Ok. Dell server board, appears to be socket 604, from a DELL DD444 system
    Main Features
    # Features : Dual Socket MPGA 604 for Intel P4 Xeon CPUs (NOT Included)

    Backplate Tray IS included

1 VRM slot (the one above the cpus)

6 USB and 1 Firewire port in back

2 USB ports in front (using Precision 670 case)

    Two SATA Connections

    Integrated AC'97 audio

    Integrated 10/100 Lan

Two UDMA 33, ATA-66/100 IDE connectors

    One Floppy Connector

    1 - 16x PCI-E Slots

    1 - 4x PCI-E Slot

    1 PCI Slot

    1 Expanded PCI Slots (64bit?)

    6 DDR DIMM slots

    1 - 68-pin onboard ultra-320 SCSI controller (and connector)

    2 Serial/1 Parallel Port

    PS2 Mouse and Keyboard Ports

    Compatible part numbers: MG022, X0392, U7565, XC837

A very nice board! shame about the proprietary layout and design

Yeah must be a workstation board rather than a server board. I have an AMD 940 board with similar spec. gogo server/ws hardware!

Could be powerful, depends what socket 604 cpus it supports - could be anything from netburst to nehalem!

psu? hmm looks like it needs a 20 and 24pin. will research!

may be easier to find the psu from the original unit

    hmmm

the second psu looked compatible with the mobo and a normal case

are xeon 604 motherboards compatible with all intel xeon 604 processors or just certain types?

The expanded pci slot is most likely PCIx, it's a 64bit extension of PCI with the clock rate bumped up to between 66 and 533MHz though most likely 133MHz. It's what servers used before PCIe became ubiquitous and you can often find pretty decent kit at very reasonable prices for it now that companies are upgrading to PCIe ( I picked up a 16port Adaptec hardware SATA RAID card for about £80).
