Yeah must be a workstation board rather than a server board. I have an AMD 940 board with similar spec. gogo server/ws hardware!
Board came from one of these hideous things: http://www.pctechoutlet.com/images/Dell/DELL_GX_670.jpg Dell Precision 670
1 more thing.. whta psu would i need with this type of motherboard or is it just a standard workstation psu
Could be powerful, depends what socket 604 cpus it supports - could be anything from netburst to nehalem! psu? hmm looks like it needs a 20 and 24pin. will research! may be easier to find the psu from the original unit

hmmm the second psu looked compatible with the mobo and a normal case are xeon 604 motherboards compatible with all intel xeon 604 processors or just certain types?
http://pixel01.cps.intel.com/support/motherboards/server/sb/cs-010445.htm Thats for the intel version of the board, same chipset so the board should support those cpus
Thanks man youve just about answered all of my questions appart from one lol Ok whta Is the VRM slot and what is its purpose... if i need to install one can you give me en example of the type i would need to look for... As i said im new to theses mobos so you will have to bare with me lol thanks

The expanded pci slot is most likely PCIx, it's a 64bit extension of PCI with the clock rate bumped up to between 66 and 533MHz though most likely 133MHz. It's what servers used before PCIe became ubiquitous and you can often find pretty decent kit at very reasonable prices for it now that companies are upgrading to PCIe ( I picked up a 16port Adaptec hardware SATA RAID card for about £80).
