    Hi,

i got a PATA SSD as a gift today, and would like to try and get it to work, as I've just had to resetup my PC anyway.
What settings would I need in BIOS, is AHCI something SATA specific?

    Best Regards,

    Xir

AHCI is Sata specific. I guess with PATA you just need to configure the drive as master or slave. Personally I always use cable select for IDE drives.

I have used some ide ssd dom on various things. Really there is nothing to do in the bios, other than making sure it's detecting the fastest dma/pia mode the drive is capable of. More importantly is to make absolutely sure the partition is mib aligned and not aligned to cylinder as it will create a performance hit which is best to be avoided.
