Bindi - think you might now this - as title - any FM2+ itx or m-itx board due (that dont catch fire!)
anandtech have a nice list of gigabyte ones - inc a sniper g.1 board this time around seems at least they are confident of FM2+ http://www.anandtech.com/show/7227/gigabyte-announces-fm2-a88x-series-motherboards-for-kaveri
FM2+ will run that cpu nicely and you can stick kevari in next year the audio on that sniper board looks really nice tbh
Yup that's exactly what I was thinking. I don't want to get an FM2 board now they've become obsolete.
But ASUS surely should know there is a big gap in the market for such a motherboard... Bindie maybe put a word in the ear of the cogs that turn at asus.
ooooh gigabyte doing a sniper board but asus not doing a ROG? srsly though , the itx form factor would be a big miss
http://b2b.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4697#sp looks like gigabyte moving into itx on fm2
I'm sure JJ from Asus said there was an itx board coming on Linus Tech Tips live show. Maybe I imagined it... It would be nice to have an FM2+ itx board.
Yea but which is the better, more trusted brand [because we never just make another board ROG colors] Even MSI's gaming is more widely known than Sniper series
Update: Marketing is kicking up a fuss internally about making one. What features do you want and what kind of price range?
Space for a mini pci wireless card but antenna's present on i/o so you could add one when you like. Maybe the 24pin and 4pin power be mounted at an angle and sata ports so would make cabling look tidy-er.
decent vrm`s and caps - don't want a repeat of the asrock itx burn ups. sodimm slots chipset certified for 2133 ram - so it you wanted a shoe box sized A10 mini lan rig its doable , good quality sound would be nice but likely I think it`ll push the cost up - as would any `uber` features. I think (AS P2H said) - making it `cable tidy` and easy to add cables rather than any uber features. I suggested sodimms rather than dims is for 1 of space (although I see you use dims on your intel itx boards) edit: quite possiblty a middle of the road option similar to the Z87I-PRO. whilst not removeable it does have wifi with antenna header and the full on power option . but I think 10 usb on the back for a small stuffed in the lounge box might be too many so lose 4 of them and that clears space for better sound
Our WiFi GO cards fit within the I/O. It'll come pre-fitted. -n spec OK? US always wants .ac now but the cost upgrade is high. No chance on the right-angled pins sorry as there's nowhere near enough space and the fail-rate for the ATX connectors is massive. Frankly the whole power connectors on MB need to fundamentally change, but that's an industry-wide decision. VRMs: So it needs a daughter-board. That's immediately a 'performance mainstream' product cause that card is very expensive. [but also SO worth it like you say. Although a well-designed board will have OCP and OPP so it should just cut out to prevent catastrophic failure. That $0.5 part is a cost saving to some though..] There's no such thing as 2133 SO-DIMMs on the market sorry, and mini-ITX boards used to use SO-DIMMs but everyone bought full-DIMM boards instead. A88X chipset has limited USB 3 ports unfortunately: AMD A88X FCH(Bolton D4) chipset : 4 x USB 3.0/2.0 port(s) (2 at back panel, blue, 2 at mid-board) AMD A88X FCH(Bolton D4) chipset : 6 x USB 2.0/1.1 port(s) (2 at back panel, black, 4 at mid-board)
I agree except having good audio is a must as you need the PCI-E slot for GPU usage and the point of a LAN box or SFF PC is to have it all in one box. Realtek audio is not good enough. Need: FAST RAM no need for SODIMM normal RAM is fine GB Ethernet WIFI? not really needed a mSATA 6GBs slot for mSATA SSD or Wifi card Good power chips and 24 pin+ 4Pin Decent sound chip atleast a Soundblaster, ausus if they produce any onboard chips or a TI as used in more USB DACs (Texas instruments) like in the Bering U-control is enough for onboard sound. All USB to be USB3 a Star and reset button can be a cheap on, just for emergency testing.
