If you aren't taking the heat sink out to blow it then I wouldn't get your hopes up about that resolving the issue. I'm not saying this won't fix it because it could do... But as a resolution to if all else fails then contact the insurance company, see if they'll give you a straight swap or contact Acer with full details of problem and your history with how you got the laptop.
