Hey guys, I want to share my latest project with you This project is based on a BitFenix Phenom which was modded during a contest at the german forum named Hardwareluxx. The hardware: - AMD 7850K - MSI 88XM Gaming - MSI 280X Gaming - Corsair Vengance Pro 2133 - Plextor 128GB - Superflower 550W ideas: After doing some clean and simple mods, I wanted to create something conspicuous. The first Ideas were drawn very fast. The materials I used in this mod are aluminium and acryl, so nothing special. After I got the first materials I started modding. I think this UV-active Acryl looks very cool, what do you think? The first big challenge was to cut the AcrylTube (OD 120mm) because I dont really have the right tools to cut... so the first cut failed... I tried it by using this saw: It worked! After grinding it with some rough sandpaper the surface looked much better. After that the paper got finer and finer and it began to look quite well, it's getting smooth So I cutted some UV acryl... ...and glued it on the polished tubes. I used Acryfix finished glueing After drying for 24h I milled it to be flush with the tube. Next big challange: How to get the tubes into each other? With a lot of force The surface wasn't nice after hammering this parts so I need to file it down. The last step was to give the edges some radius. I also used my OF-1010 for that (by the way, nice tool ) In the dark or rather under UV light: I hope you liked my first update, the next one is coming soon. See ya
Now that's what I like. No long preamble, no long list of parts, no pictures of boxes; just dive-right-in hard-core modding, bitches!
Don't think I have seen someone so complimented on the finish of their ring. Nice job  Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk 2
the chantilly lace worklog... nice hardcore hammered ring, it will rule them all! MUAHAHAHAA! whodeva...
Wow guys, thank you a lot I continiued with the fan. It wasnt easy to find one which fitted into the tube.... after killing 2 fans, the third one fits. I use some BitFenix Spectre Pro without the frame. I need to center the fan 100%, otherwise it will abrade ... Second Tube nearly done:
I don't know where people come up with this stuff! What is your day job? That is a work of art even to just create something like that
Thank GOD. Right? Im glad the move is toward hating those types too... Glad you found words cause i had NO hope for this till i saw the finished result. Then i was like
Thank you guys. But now lets start some serious modding on the case. I've started by disassembleing the case, that was very easy, good job BitFenix Nearly every part is just screwed Couse of the new hardware layout I wanted to have, I need to tranfer the motherboard tray. So I drilled out the rivets. To put everything together again, i needed a new backplate. I need to cut some aluminium sheets: And marked some cutting lines Drilled some holes for inserting the saw: But where to mount the new backplate? At first the old one has to go. So I take the jigsaw and removed the back of the case. To get a nice fitting of the sidepanels I have to make some cuttings. End of the Day: sticked everything together That it for now
And it goes on... At first I taped some therads, I used the following tool for that. I dont know the english word ^^ in german its "Nietmutternzange" 8 threads later the plate could be mounted First test match of the hardware. the planned 280X wouldnt fit that easy... its 2 cm more wide than a reference graphics card... See you
