Hi I'm setting up a 4G router for a meeting we're doing in a middle of cambridge, no wifi is available but I hear there is good 4G coverage on EE. I have a router purchased teltonika rut950 which has url filtering functionality, so I can block windows updates, apple updates etc I was wondering, is there an up to date resource available of all these big auto download urls that I can import into the settings on the router. I figure there's no point in me reinveting the wheel and spending time researching this when I can just find a resource that has all the common large software update urls identified. There is going to be 10 users, with laptops and all having smartphones I imagine. Everyone is generally responsible and wont go on long youtube sessions, but Im more concerned about the unknown bandwidth hog that burns through data. we'll be using 2x 25gb ee sim cards so should be ufficient for work stuff, but each software update can used up 1GB+ so that will be a problem.
I guess I will have to compile the list myself. Can anyone suggest common software that frequently downlods updates and is always running in the background. Windows and Apple are covered Windows: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb693717.aspx Apple: https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT200149 Chrome: https://support.google.com/chrome/a/answer/3204698?hl=en Safari (assume Apple url applies) Firefox: https://wiki.mozilla.org/Software_Update:Checking_For_Updates IE (Assumes MS url applies) iTunes/youtube is risky as someone might need to use itunes/youtube for work.
