Mmmmm... well, unless there's >2 SSDs in the array, it's clearly using an external cache to get the results...

(it's more likely, imho, that there's 3 SSDs - 2 on 6Gb/s & 1 on a 3Gb/s intel ports... ...as the results are a bit low for a decent raid card or ram cache)

Simply that, forgetting the limitation of the SSDs, it would be exceeding the bandwidth of 2x 6Gb/s SATA ports.

Yeah, even with a 'fun thread', it's kind of useful to explain what's been done to get them.

wonder why i never read that before:

ARGH
ttbomk, this will either be down to there only being a single 2.0 pcie lane for the controller (rather than per port) or the lack of trim, rather than there actually being a functional limitation.

Raid 0, 128k Stripe. No M-sata or anything.

it`ll be the first one a single pcie lane

http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...amp-9182-6GB-s

found pretty much difinitive about the marvell controllers - both the single lane 9128 and dual lane 9182 (scroll down 2/3rds the page )

& how many SSDs (or what raid card)?

Simply that (a) the theoretical throughput of 2x 6Gb/s ports is only 1200MB/s // (b) once you take off overheads there's a max of ~1160MB/s // & (c) no 2 SATA SSDs currently would exceed ~1110-20MB/s with 100% compressible data at a sustained throughput by themselves...

...so (again) either there's 3 SSDs, or (less likely as it's a bit slow for that) there's 2 on a raid card which itself has cache on it or (even less likely as it's much too slow) there's a ram cache.

Not surprised - well the trim mention was just an afterthought to cover the options...

...you'd really be much better off using your 3Gb/s intel controller, as you mooted in a previous post.

Just 2 in his Laptop, no cache card, don't know if he has a RAID controller, all he did was bung them in replacing his Scorpio. Honestly do not know.

Even with a M-sata, surely it would slow down the performance when running crystal instead right?

Even using CDM instead of AS-SSD (it gives different results so bears no resembelence to what other people are getting), the sequential read speed is way too high without some trickery going on...

it's just impossible to get that score in CDM from 2x 256GB 830s in R0 without there being some additional h/w or software acting on the read speeds...

...as (again) 1269MB/s breaks the theoretical limit for 6Gb/s SATA & is way beyond what the SSDs themselves can do.

will see how it goes but idle time either trim or garbage collection is working well enough on this M4 (latest marvell drivers and they dont use release notes lol)

I don't like the SSD benchmark stuff because they never work properly for me.

Running 2 Corsair Force 3 120Gb drives in Raid 0, and ATTO show's:

Read 1.07Gbp/s
Write 989Mbp/s

But Crystal shows:

Read 403.1Mbp/s
Write 207.2Mbp/s
