    Hi

Currently have an i5 2500k@4.6Ghz running -advmethods and getting around 20-21,000 ppd.

Considering selling it and paying an extra £70ish for the i7 2600k.

Anyone have one? If so, what can I expect whilst running -advmethods and also whilst running -bigadv?

Want to know if it is worth the extra dosh as cash is a little tight.... :wallbash:

I've seen people claiming well over 40K ppd at 4.6Ghz.

If you are buying for folding 2600K well worth the extra money imo :)

Cheers guys. Sounds like a plan.

    Now to convince the missus....

Hopefully there will be an i5 2500k in the for sale section soon and a i7 2600k in the post for me :)

Due to HT and you can run BigAdv, a 2600K is a folding beast.

Do you know the power consumption of this rig?

At 4.5 Gig, no gpu folding 165Watts from the wall. :D

Which is exactly what my i5 2500k draws as well... thats with a P8P67 and 2x4Gb of RAM.

The PPD/Watt of these is just stupid. Beat even an SR2 I think...

Yeah I think so. Three 2600K rigs would give 150000 PPD but would be cheaper and draw less power.

It's a close run thing. SR-2 rig # 1 gets 218K ppd on a fast bigadv whilst pulling 600w from the wall. You'd need 4 2600K rigs to match the ppd which together may require slightly more power.

Of course, it almost goes without saying that Bulldozer and then Ivy Bridge will completely blow SR-2 out the water on the ppd/w front.

Bear in mind when Z68 comes out you can overclock the 2600K and use onboard graphics, so probably a good 50W minimum saving to be had, compared with a gt240 fitted but not used on p67.
