Because no one told me they changed from using screws to Torx!

I took the GPU out and then removed one of the regular screws around the core, then tried one of the smaller screws around the edge, only to find it's something called Torx. I did a search online and there is a reference someone made about it being Torx T6 on Nvidia 680. I have Zotac 680 so I guess they're using these now instead of regular screws.

So I won't be fitting the block until I get the damned T6.

    It is a T6 isn't it?

T6 is absolutely tiny - my torx bits only go down to T10

I think T6 is the same sort of size as that used in mobile phone - hp server screws that are Torx generally are T10's

I got a crappy cheap toolbox with various odd shaped tool bits. Torx is there but no T6 that I can see. I should throw that box away because whenever I have encountered an odd screw shape, that box has never had the correct shape or size.

It has more than 40 pieces.

Haven't they always been T6's? They certainly were on the 580.

Good job I saw this thread as I normally rush in to thing's and find I need something and then have to start, either trying to find somewhere who sells them or bodge something together to do the job with these card's though I will probably take mine to Scan as they said they will fit, the block for me as I really don't want to fry the card (chicken).

    He writes his own bios.

He doesn't rely on Nvidia bios.

He uses his own drivers too.

I thought all high end Nvidia cards since at least the gtx 480 have had t6 torx screws on them? My EVGA gtx 580's did and the one that I got from deadbeat also has them. Only 580's I knew of that had normal screws where EVGA 580's with IHS, but not many of them did have those.

I have a vague memory of once paying £240+ for an FX 5900 ultra.

It turned out to be Nvidia's worst GPU.

I can't even remember buying it or how I came to pay £240+ for it.
