I'll start with the front and side windows, and the bottom side vents. That's it now for a couple of days, got to get a clients build done.catch you all soon.
Well today got interesting, time to see how steady my hands are when doing fine cuts. A few little marks, but nothing a sand and a blob of body filler will sort out. That's the 2 front windows cut and the side panel windows. Little bit of tidying up,but starting to look like the vision in my head now. Enjoy...... Just bits of sanding to do now and I can weld the 2 case halves together.
The welding together of the 2 chassis is now completed. I now have one solid sturdy chassis. Now for the next stage
AIR480 case feet have finally arrived. Very happy with the finish,I will be running a gloss orange stripe in each groove. Happy chappy. The new case floor is away at the laser cutters as well.
Well managed to get the case panels done ready for hydro graphics. Holes filled that are not needed. And a good sand all over. The new aluminium floor is still at the laser guru's, but looking fantastic. Would like to say a massive thank you to Mayhems Solutions for supporting the fluids for AIR480. Pictures of fluids coming soon.
UPDATE 5 Well the fluids arrived today, massive thank you to Mayhems Solutions for supporting the AIR480 project. I think I've hit the colour on the head for both loops.very happy.
Well things have gone abit slow, due to my business high workload. But still getting the odd bit done whilst the case floor and side panels are away at the laser cutters. So done the case feet, very happy with the end result.
Goodie box arrived off Corsair for the AIR480 build. HX1200 arrives from Corsair next week. Thanks for the support.
Hi all. Sorry the update posts have been slow lately, been waiting on watercooling parts and the cnc work on the side panels and chassis floor. That's all complete now,all case panels have gone to hydrographics and the floor has been sanded to a brushed aluminium effect (clear lacquer to apply) I'm now cutting the internal acrylic panels, these will be finished this week A few watercooling parts have arrived, just waiting on the fittings, tubing,Gpu waterblocks. Here's a few pictures of components that arrived this week
Motherboard and cpu have landed, massive thank you to Asus for getting this to me. The cpu is the Intel i7-6800k and the motherboard is the Asus Strix X99 Gaming. The colour theme on the mobo fits the build colours perfectly
UPDATE 10 Whilst other parts of the build are drying and waiting for return,I got a few brackets made for the EK-XTOP pumps. Not a lot of heaight in the basement of AIR480,so had to keep the pumps as low as possible. So I got 4 corner braces from screwfix (82p) and a few mods later I had the perfect height needed. Also my 3M PCIE 3.0 Gpu riser cables arrived from Digi-Key. Thanks guys for getting these to me promptly. And a huge massive thank you to Nessie Analytics for making the perfect length needed. A true gent and craftsman.
That's the new chassis floor ready, fair bit of sanding to get the brushed effect I wanted. Just a couple of coats of lacquer required Very happy with the end result.
UPDATE 11 Well a whole Saturday doing acrylic AIR480 has been lined out with gloss black acrylic, all holes done and the window reveals have had strips of acrylic welded on. This will give all the windows a framed look Now this is done its time for assembly.
UPDATE 12 Hi all Sorry for the lack of updates, likes been hectic. Arranging to move house and new business premises. Well got all the acrylic done and motherboard all mounted back into the chassis,I've got the 2 EK 250 res bolted down and a few of the passthrough in place. Also the custom made cables from To The Wire Custom Sleeving, they are all in place now. I've got some new silver and black aluminium cable combs on the cables as well. Here's a few pics of the progress
Sorry for the slow update, work has been manic.now down with the dreaded man flu (every man knows man flu) Fittings, extensions, acrylic tubing have arrive from Alphacool. Now everything is here,I can start the final assembly and get this build finished. Here's a few pictures of the Alphacool goodness. Wont be long now guys, let me shake this flu and full steam ahead. If your at i60 next weekend and see me about, come and say hi.
The dreaded man flu has lifted its ugly head for a few hours,so this gave me chance to get the cpu loop finished. All went yo plan, leak tested for 8 hours.no issues. Will start the Gpu loop very soon, totally drained.no strength at all This flu doesn't want to leave me........
Hi all. My apologies for the lack of updates.ive been manic for the last month. My business commitments and family life. But great news yesterday, finally found the time to Collect the case panels of AIR480 I have had them hydro dipped in a brushed aluminium finish. They have done a great job and very professional team. I've attached some diamond mesh behind the corsair logo,This logo is also adding ventilation to the basement where the radiators are. I've also installed the 3mm thick clear acrylic windows,I've done a video and will get it uploaded to my YouTube channel. Enjoy......
