Hey folks. Following on from the very successful Geekbench thread, I've decided to start another fun bench thread, this time with a more gruelling challenge for the enthusiasts among us: a single instance of Super Pi 32m in the fastest time possible. This normally takes a few minutes to complete and it requires a reasonably high level of system stability.

All submissions are welcome and the results will be displayed in a leadership table in post #2. All submissions will be categorised from fastest time to slowest time according to platform (eg Sandy Bridge, Lynnfield, Bulldozer etc.) so that direct comparisons and friendly competition can happen. I will also make a Top 10 chart for overall leaders.

    RULES

Super Pi Mod 1.5 must be used to calculate Pi to 32 million decimal places, and CPU-Z will be used to show the CPU and Memory tabs so we can see the frequencies which achieved the results. Please post a (preferably cropped but not resized) screenshot of your result containing all the required information. The Super Pi 1.5 checksum must be displayed in the screen capture, as must the "PI calculation is done!" dialogue box.

You may do whatever you want to boost your score, eg disable all but one CPU core and use liquid helium to nail 7GHz. Bear in mind that Super Pi is very much a memory bandwidth test so don't get hung up on CPU frequency.

In addition to the screen capture, all submissions must contain the following text information which must adhere to this format:

Score | CPU Model | Cooling | CPU Frequency | Motherboard | Memory model, frequency and latency

    eg.

    6m 04.535s | i5 2500K | Water | 5103MHz | MSI P67A GD53 | Corsair Vengeance 2133MHz 7-8-7-20-1T

Additional submissions must be made in a separate post - please do not edit posts once you have made a submission.

All that's left to say is... have fun and enjoy benching!

This will probably be the slowest score for a while:

    19m 31.784s | AMD Phenom II X4 955 | Air | 3840MHz | Asus Crosshair II Formula | Corsair XMS2 960MHz 5-6-6-18-22-2T

I'll pull 4GB RAM out so I can up the speed to 1066MHz+ and overclock it a bit more later.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Over-overclocked results

    18m 24.967s | AMD Phenom II X4 955 | Air | 4218MHz | Asus Crosshair II Formula | Corsair XMS2 1070MHz 5-6-6-18-22-2T

An extra 378MHz on the CPU and 110MHz on the RAM saves a minute and 7 seconds

I'll race you to the bottom with my FX 8120? I'm pretty sure it's going to churn out a terrible score as well.

I'm running it only at 3.4ghz at the second, undervolted, because I don't need more power than that most of the time.

I'd take part but my system isn't stable above standard clock speeds. Hasn't been a very good overclocker. This could be chip or motherboard I don't know.

    My Baseline 8120 score;

    24m 21.645s | AMD FX 8120 | Air | 3.4Ghz (C&C enabled) | Asus Crosshair V | Corsair Vengance LP l, 1600Mhz, 9-9-9-24-2T

Goddamn it shows how bad the FX 8120 is in single-thread.

I could probably knock a few minutes off the time just by taking the memory up another 110mhz and up the NB to 2750. Buuut that's all effort I can't be arsed with at this point in time.

Thanks for the submissions so far guys - surprised to see no Intel participation yet! :D

I'll get the leaderboard up and running tomorrow and hopefully this thread will continue to grow. We'll start to see some crazy fast times when the SB and IB guys join in.

Eh. If I could crack 18 minutes; I'd be happy. I'll have to break out my little list of super-crazy settings that I knew to be stable on my previous board. I've not really ragged my FX 8120 on the Crosshair, it'll be interesting to see if it performs as much better as I suspect.

As usual, however, AMD's terrible Memory controller/Northbridge relationship is not helping matters. I'm going to keep complaining about this till it stops being terrible.

    @ Tundra give it a bash. :)

I've made a leaderboard in post #2 which will be updated as the submissions come in. Formatting will probably change somewhat but I'll see what I can do.

LennyRhys, I've got a couple of old machines I can try this on if you think it's worth the hilarity of the slow scores. I've got a Q6600 and DDR2 based system, a Pentium 4 HT paired with the original DDR Corsair Dominator RAM (I think...) and a Athlon XP system but I'll have to nick the Corsair stuff from the P4 so it'll run.

You could make a new category on the leaderboard called "legacy"
