I am toying with redesigning my older ITX setup that's in and SG05. I've searched, but not found anything particularly useful or conclusive out there on the web, so am asking here. I am thinking of front mounting an SFX PSU into the SG05, and using a top intake fan. In effect, it'd be like a short SG07 in design Any thoughts or real problems?
Wouldn't you be better off making the top fan an exhaust? Increased dust due to potential negative pressure might be an issue but it's arguably a more efficient single fan option.
Interesting, thanks D. I wonder if a top exhaust would conflict with a downdraft cpu cooler... I'd have room for a small tower, without the PSU there, though. Keep 'em coming

You mean like this? Don't get why they faced the PSU that way - I'd turn it around What kind of setup is going in it? Can you do it with a pico PSU and external brick?
Yes. good pic you found there Just like that but SFX at the front with the intake facing forward as you say. Probably be my soon to be retired H55N + G6950 set, with a bump to the CPU later on. I don't really like the clutter of external bricks - I DO have an odd HP 'not ITX' i3 set that runs off a brick, which I could use, but it has no expansion slots at all
I've toyed with moving the SFX PSU to the front myself once the system is fully decommissioned. As for the AIO, it's easy enough. First couple of pics in this post from my Asteria II project log: https://forums.bit-tech.net/showpost.php?p=4246687&postcount=10 You can see there's ample space for a thicker AIO rad, which will also lend itself very well to shifting the PSU forward. Depending on the length of your GPU you will need to offset the PSU so it's flush to the far side, thereby allowing long cards to fit. The PSU should fit in a number of different orientations too depending on where you want the intake and exhausts pointing.
