I currently have the Tyan Tachyon G9600pro running on a Medion 18.1" TFT.

When I use either 3DMark03 or the included ATI demos I frequently get an error like "Ati Demo lost focus" or "3DMark lost focus and cannot continue".

I used to get the same error on my Old Leadtek Geforce3 ti200, which I've only just replaced.

    Any ideas?

Is it the TFT monitor or could it be a DriectX 9 problem?

I am using the Catalyst 3.7 drivers and have tried re-installing DirectX 9.

    Cheers

Well it's nothing to do with the monitor.

Windows can only interact ONEWAY with a monitor, it can send data to it but the monitor sends no data back. (The only thing windows can tell is wether a monitor is plugged in)

I think the program in Focus has control over the display and that program is displayed, normally in fullscreen mode.

Sounds like another program is trying to take the focus away from the demo (stopping it from being full screen)

    My thoughts exactly.

I realise the Monitor doesn't send data back to the PC, but I was curious whether it could be the Monitor Driver....

It's weird how it works some of the time and not others.

I've been using "Ad-Aware" and "Search and Destroy" to see what processes are running. Removing any found files/registry entries.....

After a re-boot, the ATI demos worked!! I'll see how it goes, fingers crossed!

    Cheers

I dunno, but if you rename the thread so that it makes more sence to your problem you might get some better responces.

if ur on 98se remove all things at startup and then remove all process apart from systray and explorer.
If ur on xp then same applies remove all at startup then remove all processes to bout 14 processes not sure which ones tho. :(
then try, if it still fails change the monitor driver to a plug and play one, or even try to get a update for the monitor

    ok.......

I have a Trust Keyboard which has shortcut buttons (like most keyboards today).

I removed it's program from the Systray and my ATI Demo's worked first time!

Fingers crossed that it was this that was "stealing focus" from the Demo!!
    :p

to explain - the term 'focus' basically denotes which program will take keyboard input, there are of course exceptions (e.g. the Win key and any hotkeys like on your keyboard which will 'speak' to Windows and the KB driver respectively.)

OK, It was the keyboard causing the problem!

There is actaually an updated driver/software for it which addresses this problem availbale from Trust's website
