Howdy folks, it's been a while, sorry for not calling . Recent goings on in my workplace are leading to me leaving my job, kind of technically my choice but meh whatever. I have decided to try my YouTube channel full-time and explore more ideas for more channels, 6 months to see if I can live of it by the end. I'm digressing hugely, back story Cheesecake? As I'll be using my computer for upto 16 hours every day for 6 months and hopefully longer I thought I'd upgrade my display and after looking, the ultra wide 3440x1440 seem the best fit for editing and game immersion so I will enjoy them more and keep motivation higher. My question is more about whether a 1080 is needed or would be overkill for most games on a 3440x1440 display with max settings running shadow play (which utilises the GPU processing resources), its a fair bit more expensive then the 1070 but if I'm spending between £700 and £1000 on a monitor I shouldn't hold back on the card. Any and all thoughts would be hugely appreciated. Thx all PS - If more details in my rig are needed, my signature is accurate.
Hi I would get the 1080 Best to have highest card. I have 1 and love it I use it with a 4790k and 32 gb of ram with a 40in 4k monitor I would also maybe upgrade your ram to 16gb or 32gb for about £120ish 32gb
100% get the 1080, if YT is involved you will need capture software which will eat up frames too... (Unless you're capturing externally in which case are limited to 1080p by most of the hardware devices I've seen anyway?)
Thank you for the input, regarding the ram, would that increase productivity in the encoding part of the editing process? I can't see any other reason why I would need more than 8
I use shadow play for ingame footage, IBS for streaming and face can and audacity for the voice recording
i'd definitely go with 1080, or wait for 1080ti, i'm gaming at 1440p and cards don't last as long as they did when i had a 1050p monitor...
