We just picked up a '93 Mustang 5.0 LX a few days ago. Everything is stock and in perfect condition (hard to find in a 93 foxbody these days), and the speakers sound pretty good, but I was thinking about a couple smaller-sized woofers in the back just to give it a little deeper bass. I've been looking around, and there is a lot of expensive stuff out there, but I'd like to keep it around a $200 price range. I figured that isn't much but it might buy a decent system.

I looked at this package and it seems really inexpensive. I haven't had any experience with car audio systems so help me out here. Also, do you think I'd be able to install some equipment myself...how difficult are these kind of installations...?

    Pictures, btw:

I'll get some shots of the interior soon.

Just to get an idea of the room in the back for woofers.

from experence (i have a 96 ford contour) that has the same stereo

throw the factory unit away as soon as you can my speakers are stock

but with the factory system they sounded like sh#t

but when i put new head unit in and it gives new life to the stalk speaker system it sounds great it has more bass

My advice is not to buy really cheap car audio.

Those links woodshop posted are very poor indeed.

My advice if you want to spend morre is get a CD player headunit.

Get a decent set of 6 or 6.5 inch mid bass up front.

Use a four channel amplifier and run the front channel 1 and 2 to the mid bass and tweeters.

Then get a decent subwoofer and bridge the channels 3 and 4 to the subwoofer.

    Simple and decent.

Try looking on www.crutchfield.com and www.sounddomain.com

    i saw pyramid linked agian

ffs will people stop linking to crap audio, sony sounds better than pyramid, heck the 9 year old blown OEm door speaker in my rover sounds better than pyramid

spend the mone on a good headunit, then spend on some good speakers, then spend on a 4ch amp then spend on a sub

and dont think scrimping is going to help, its better to spend the money and get good kit than cheap tat

i mean ffs a 6inch sub for 10.99 i bet it barely passes as a midbass driver and im not syaing a damn word on legacy

    No it's in neutral.

I think the first thing I'll do is buy a new head unit, for sure (since I need a CD player anyway). By the way, I was planning to spend a LOT more than $11 for a sub, lol. Anyway, I'll have to see how much better a new CD receiver will sound with the stock system; then I should make my decisions from there. I'd like to get a simple but decent one, preferably black to match the interior, and mp3 CD playback is a plus.

It is still angled even in neutral; that's just how it is.

don't you just love manuel transmissions
my car is an automatic :waah: ohwell
i drove manuel for a while evey now and then when im driving i try to use the clutch and there is none

relax man i don't think the guy wants to compete in sound compititions
i think he just wants some decent sounding music i thought the ford speakers in my car were crap till i changed the head unit

get a decent head unit and if it still doesn't sound good then you can proceed with subs amps ect. and even if the new head unit doesn't improve the sound (because of the speakers) you will still have a better start

just remember when you start with crap no matter what you add to it it will still be crap

you ahve yet to come across a sub like the resonat engineering 8 inch or the crystal 8inch or the diamond 8inch

trust me small 8 inch subs can get silly loud and silly low (two of the crystal 8 inch subs shift as much air as a crystal 15inch woofer)
