Two of my taskbar icons are not displaying correctly since installing the software for my mouse.
I have rolled backed to before the install but this has not fixed the problem, they also don't show correctly in the start menu, I have tried reinstalling core temp but this made no difference.

The first Icon is Firefox and the second is Core temp the third (displaying correctly) is Asus smart doctor which was running at the same time the others went wrong.

I'm hoping there is someone who can help me find a solution.

This is on a fresh install of Windows 7.

I hate when this happens. It's a bit of a pain to fix, here goes:

1- Unpin these items, if they are pinned

2- go to C:\Users\<ACCOUNT NAME>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch\User Pinned\TaskBar, an make sure they are gone from there.

3- Clear the thumbnail cache. (Open: Disk Cleanup, then check the Thumbnails check box, and then click on the OK button).

4- Save what you have open, because your computer will restart automatically.
Open the command prompt as true administrator, then type the following commands:

    taskkill /IM explorer.exe /F
    DEL "%localappdata%\IconCache.db" /A
    shutdown /r /f /t 00

Once back in Windows, pin your icons again, and it should be fixed.

Thank you all sorted now, one thing I'll add is that you need to have hidden files showing, took me a moment to realise why I couldn't find the folders mentioned

This has been bothering me for ages too - thanks for the solution. I wonder why it happens?
