Watercooling Thread Revival: Will this GTX580 PCB take a good watercooling block?

    Since it's non reference?

EDIT: Thread revival. Been pondering more into this and if you look at the images of this and what I assume are the screw holes on this block, http://www.scan.co.uk/products/ek-f...l-for-570-580-gtx-non-reference-graphic-cards, they appear to line up. Also, upon further inspection, this block is the same http://www.scan.co.uk/products/ek-fc580-gtx-acetal-and-copper-580gtx-water-block.

Now the 1st link is to a 'non-reference card' block so that makes sense why it'd line up, but the second has got me confused? Does my PCB have reference screw holes or are there differences that I haven't taken into account? (I am the worlds largest watercooling n00b).

If they don't make it, there's not much to be done really...

    Are you sure that's a 580? Looks like a 480 to me :S

Yup, as I've NEVER EVER seen a gtx 580 with that half circle cut in the end of the pcb, only gtx 480's I've seen with that.

Anyway there is an easy way to tell, if you've got the card apart, check the IHS if it says GF100, - gtx 480

    GF110 - Gtx 580

Or the simple way would be to check in CPU-Z or GPU-Z :p

    100%

If it isn't, i'm sending a very angry message to Scan.. But the GPU-Z and POST tell me it's a GTX580 so that's good enough for me.

I guess this won't be able to take a full block :( Anyone wanna swap it for a reference card? xD

been comparing images of the 480's pcb, I think my card is a modified 480 pcb with a 580 chip O.O

Places where there should be three caps up in the corner of the top and right rows of memory modules on a reference 480, there are holes to accomodate these caps but not on a reference 580.

Compare my images to this one http://www.legitreviews.com/images/reviews/1461/gtx580_gtx480_pcb.jpg

EDIT: Upon further observation, it seems the bottom of the card (in my pictures) is pretty much the same as a 480, while the top doesn't resember either a 480 or a 580.. This is confusing.. Do I have some sort of weird 480/580 hybrid? O.O or is my lack of sleep making this seem more shocking than it actually is?

    Dear Scan,

Would you mind awfully telling me what you have sold me...

Just fit a GPU core waterblock and get ram and mosfet heatsinks. An EK VGA supreme will fit without mod.

Agreed. It'll give you better core temperatures and last indefinitely - though you may at some point (say 5-10 years down the line) have to fab up your own hold down plate.

I think a Core-only block is the only way you'll get watercooling on that. Not elegant, but it'll work. That card is too far off the 480 PCB design to take the block, I -think-, I'm not sure. Nor do I have an Autocad model of that card and the block to see if they'd clash at all. (Anyone happens to have those two, however, feel free to send them my way so I can check.)

The other annoying thing is that KFA2 is only known as such here in Europe. Everywhere else it's "Galaxy", which is a bugger for finding information on, because it means you've got two completely different company names to search under.

Waaaaaiiit a minute... I can't tell for certain, but a Fullcover block might fit, judging by the shaping on the block itself. (Only image I could find.)

eBay it and get a reference card.

I'm stuck in the same boat with my Palit GTX 570 (P/N: NE5X570010DA-1101F which doesn't seem to be listed either way!!) :(

Your forgetting its more than just screw holes. You have to ensure the cooling areas match up with heat producing areas :)

The bit's that look like they should cool something do appear to line up, i'm thinking of just taking my card to Scan on my next monthly 'outing' there and having one of their guys look at it and tell me what it can take. Was hoping someone on here could save me the hassle :) haha
