A pair of 770s is great BUT go with the 4GB cards otherwise youll potentially hit vram issues AND the possibility of the cards running into sli profile issues. 780TI ill avoid this 780 6GB is probably a little pointless for most but can be a benefit on some games, I personally have a pair of 780TIs and shall be splitting them down to 2 single 780 ti systems as one is more than enough in 99% of games even at 4K Cheers
As previously stated, there are games that demand performance and greater Vram capabilities. Metro last light is a prime example in which 4G Vram would be good but the SLI would be completely wasted as it doesn't support it. 2 cards pose multiple issues in which a single card would not; greater power consumption, heat, profiles or lack there of, etc.... Even having more Vram, I run into SLI issues with my GTX 780 3G setup. The real gains for SLI is price v.s. performance where SLI profiles are supported and supported well, as well as scalability in the future. You can always tack on another card for cheaper than buying the next best card that's released and see better performance. For Ex. go single 780Ti right now. Be big hoss for current titles and supported resolutions, and a gen or 2 down the road (800 series/900 series) buy another 780Ti and see greater gains. Run into the same issues as SLI'ing currently but still have the option of 1 780Ti v.s 1 770. TL;DR I would DEFINITELY go with the 780Ti
If equivalent or faster in performance, a single card is always preferable over an SLI setup. Fewer driver issues, less power consumption, less heat.
Get the best deal you can on a single GTX 780 Ti. I'm glad I went the single card route after previously playing with GTX 460 and GTX 670 SLI. Not because it was bad, quite the opposite! I really enjoyed playing around with SLI but now I'm playing more and more 'Early Access' games the lack of SLI profiles and benefits of a single GPU are becoming apparent.
As Blogins says get the best card you can afford, forget about the very old argument about SLI driver problems yada yada some do have problems some don't personly I've never had a problem with SLI
lol i had this same debate with myself a few weeks ago ended up with the 780ti haven't sold my 770 yet either sell the 770 asap to get maximum $ before 8-series details are out and buy a 780ti, or just sit on the 770 and wait for the 8-series cards @deders his monitor is in his sig, 2560x1080 @60hz
Might be a daft question but I know very little about SLI (although going to try and pair up some 670s I bought to experiment with) so here it is: If you do by some chance have two cards in SLI and experience either issues or lack of support in some games, is there a way to disable one card just for that session? Or do you have to physically unseat it?
