After opening the cover on a new motherboard i found about 7 of the socket pins were bent slightly. The Asus manual states that they won't replace and i should contact my supplier. Is this a big problem? or can i fix this by moving the pins into place?. I've already started to put everything together and just have the CPU and graphics card left. Should i attempt to fix the bent pins or contact my supplier?. Hopefully i can repair this my self as i really don't want to undo everything I've done so far and wait for a replacement. Motherboard: ASUS P6T SE iX58 Socket 1366 8 Channel Audio ATX Motherboard Shop: Ebuyer.com Thanks.
If you try to fix it and make worse they may refuse to rma it , so it's not worth the risk . Just send it back asp.
What should i fill the "Reason For Return" as?. Dead On Arrival Damaged In Transit Faulty Under Warranty The Asus manual states "Asus will shoulder the cost of repair only if the damage is shipment/transit-related."
It may not be 100% DOA, even with pins missing, so state Faulty Under Warranty. Also, don't worry about the ASUS manual, you should be sending it back to Ebuyer (in it's original box, with all extra bits inside).
If you try to repair it, and it still doesn't work, your screwed. Its an i7 board so we arent talking loose change to buy another.
Ok, Thanks guys. I've requested the RMA. Status: "Management referral". I guess i will have to wait a while
keep checking that page. it will give you a number to ring regarding the RMA - just explain the problem and they will arrange a pickup.
