Scan, PC Specialist and XMG have these at the moment at roughly the same price. I was wondering if anyone had any experience with them? I thought they might be a good option for me take away to uni next year. Something nice and portable with a bit of gaming potential. My current Acer laptop is such a pain, it overheats and turns itself off under any stress. I suppose i worry that with decent hardware packed into a small laptop overheating might be an issue. Anyway if anyone had any thoughts or experience with these kind of laptops i'd really appreciate it. Thanks, Dam.
Thanks for the response and the suggestion, I hadn't considered an Alienware. I have no problem paying more for better quality. I lesson i have learned with my Acer! The Scan 3XS comes with a 2GB GT 650M whereas the Alienware has a 1GB GT 650M. Would there be a noticeable difference in gaming? They both seem to have roughly the same specs but the 3XS is considerably cheaper. Screen size is not a massive issue for me. For gaming i would most likely be hooking it up to a monitor.
alien cost more but hold there price better, the scan, and pc spec use the same barebone parts, all they do is add a cpu, hardrive and ram. if your a student see what dell offers you, if not have a look for discount codes dell have. and keep an eye onen on offers.
I've been really interested in these sorts, but I've not got the funds for one. The one problem I can foresee is that 11in laptops have the tiniest keyboards, and I can't imagine it being very comfortable for gaming. Personally, as well, I think the time of the netbook is over. something like a Nexus 10 would do it for me for sort of mobile gaming. Anyway, for the price of one of these mediocre 11 in 'gaming laptops' you could get a half decent desktop for your abode, at around £600-700, and then spend the rest of your money on a tablet for portable things?
Hi Dam We've sold lots of LG5s (the Scan name for this 11in gaming laptop) and we've had no returns due to overheating. Even if there was a problem, our laptops are covered by a 2-year warranty.
