does anybody use the gfx card + cooling solution as in topic?

so, how well the cooler does its job?

got my club3d radeon 9700 today and the quest for quiet aircooled comp shall continue. :brrr: was going to buy sapphire 9700 pro but waiting list was three weeks long... :eyebrow:

im going to run the card as default without bios patches etc.
just need the info. two 80mm fans are going to be added tomorrow, one blowing on gfx card and second one to cpu cooler.

Works fine on the 9700Pro, no fans will be needed at all if you're not overclocking. I use one on my radeon @415 core/730 memory and that only has a low cfm fan blowing over it. Gets hot but it's perfectly stable. Well worth it IMO

    thank you.

i _might_ patch the bios later, but for the next few months, it will run as default.

gonna order t3h zalman tomorrow. :brrr:

I have one on mine. I can only get it up to 370MHz though without any glitches at all. It's at 1.76 volts too. I have a 60x10mm CPU cooler blowing on the front of it, upside down if you can see in my spec picture. Is there any way I can get it higher?

By the way, I haven't done any BIOS hacks or removed that metal square surrounding the core...you think I should take that off?

I would save the shim aound the core, or be very careful.

There's no need to remove the shim on the ZM-80A only the old version the ZM80 needs to have the shim removed to make good contact with the core, the newer one is revised to fit ATI cards.

Oh yeah...that's right. I have the newer one. The outer edge is cut away and the center protrudes out slightly on the bottom. I should have noticed that earlier.

I have that exect card running with the ZM80A-HP ... the thing with the Club3D cards is that they use Infinion Ram rated @ 3.3ns and they come running at 297 from the factory so they don't leave much space for OC'ing ... if I'd known that before I would have bought a Sapphire ... but wtf, the Club3D card's pretty decent ... :naughty:

The cooler gets hot to the touch when on stock and frakin hot when the core's OC'd. I have mine running at 351 Mhz stable but as I said the cooler get's real hot. Adding a fan to your case door or window blowing onto the cooler brings down temps alot.

    Cheers
