    Hey guys,

I have another build advice thread going on and was wondering which card would be better for me?

Im not an intense gamer nor do i do a lot of video encoding (dabble in both really) so which one will be best for me?

    5850 1Gb Extreme or 6870 1GB

    Regards

HD 6870 is the faster one, but if you don't really play that much, why bother with the extra cost? Just get the HD 5850 Extreme.

Really it all depends on the price.

The 6870 would be my recommendation because at Aria you can get one for £123.95 including Stalker CoP and Shogun 2.

And if you don't want either of them you could always shoot them my way :p

HD6870 given the current pices are so good.

Alternatively you could always look at the GTX460 from Nvidia. Once overclocked (very simple and practically a given for the 460) it will easily match a HD6870 in most games.

6870. It should handle tessellation better, and that is going to be included in games more and more.

As said the HD6870 is the one to go for.

That is, *unless* you fall into a very exclusive category. Should you still be using a CRT and should you also wish to play with frame rates above 60Hz, then the HD5xxx series is the latest (and probably last) series of graphics cards to be supported by PowerStrip.
