You can get similar for free, Malwarebytes basically just killed themselves.

AFAIK the lifetime licenses for 1.x will continue to have a lifetime license for 2, so i guess if you get in early with a 1.x license you wont have to pay the yearly subscription. Also i think you can try the beta for free ATM, i guess that will end when it comes out of beta.

I think they're referring to those programs that scan for free and then make you pay for the cleanup.
Though I admit I didn't think any of those were legitimate...

I was confused by this also, at the moment you can do a scan and cleanup for free, but you pay for the real time protection module. What the article didn't make clear is the exact difference between the current paid for protection and the new model. Can we still do a scan and clean up for free as we van at the moment or not?

Lets be honest, £18 ish isn't that great a sum of money to make sure people aren't clogging your PC with shite. They've gotten to a point now where they're a successful company with a strong product, why wouldn't they want to make money from that?

Agreed. Malwarebytes have provided quite a brilliant service over the years that I'm confident has lived in the toolkit of just about any of us. I'm surprised they haven't done this sooner, and to be fair, the price isn't all that bad for what they're offering.

Considering that MBAM is my first-go-to app when ever i suspect a virus I'd probably pay for it. I mean I don't think I've come across a time where its failed me - and thats where other AV's ive used have so. They've made a great product. Every year their consistently performing well in detection rates so what's not to love? £18 a year is £1.50 a month LOL.

I remember this great anti-virus software from the past. It was basically free and everyone loved it and recommended it. But McAfee ain't what it used to be.

    Greetings!

Never really understood why this program had so much buzz around it.
Have been using Spybot S&D for more than a decade now, and every time I use anoter anti-malware to check Spybot efficiency the results are near zero.

The only thing I liked about spybot was having to allow any registry changes that were being made to the machine.
