first of all a 1mb onboard S3 Trio from my Packard Bell 166MMX in 1997. Then I "upgraded" to a 4mb ATI PCI (2mb xtra memory addon) given to me by Evilbob, with a Voodoo2 8mb PCI that I got for £20. I had those ones in my k6-400 which I clocked to 450. After I got rid of those I got a TNT2 m64 32mb but it did'nt work in my Gigabyte GA5AX so I got my money back and bought a Savage4 32mb which I still have :)

1024kb Oak Technologies ISA Vid card the size of a brick.

    Ran 800x600 in 16bit (*just*) on my 486 dx 33 with 8meg 30pin simms ram on a 14" 60hz moniter :D

But the first cards i bought were:
    Diamond Stealth 2 4meg 2D card and a Maxi Gamer Voodoo 1 £d Card with 4meg 83mhz "Elite" 8x512kb Sdram chips :)

Cost me £160 for them both in early '96... ahhh - im running them right now in my bros puter. The Voodoo 1 doesnt like direct x and crashes in any app that doesnt run glide :D:D

I don't even know what the FIRST one was...whatever the old old old IBM PS/2's had in them...it wasn't even ISA i don't think...well old.

My second card in a newer pooter was a 512k VESA local bus card

and thirdly, the good old PCI s3 trio......which are still useful for getting dualhead combined with you AGP card :D

I suppose in my old 386 I had *no* graphics, but in my pII 266 I had an Intel i740... I leave y'all to draw your own conclusions from that

mine was a Matrox Millennium 2mb... I shelled out another £40-50 I think for the 2mb upgrade, giving me 4mb!!!! w00!!!

    then I got a 3dfx Voodoo 1 4mb and upgraded to a 4mb Matrox Mystique

and on my new machine I'm running a Matrox G400

as you can see, I'm matrox boy, but I've recently succumbed to the flashy snazzy things called GeForce 2's....

Dr. Nick: my conclusion is that you didn't have much fun playing games!! lol

First of all (in my old p133) a 2Mb PCI Daytona 64E (anyone know exactly what it is, other than a piece of OEM poo?)

then a 4Mb PCI Matrox Millenium 220 :D, then (with my newer machine) a V3 3000 with Tv Out, and then a herc GeForce 2 MX

    and now a Gainward Gf3 Ti200 :)

Anyone know what graphics cards 286's carry? I think it was some Trident jobby, or maybe Highfield - unless I'm making these names up from the top of my head - but 'm pretty sure I remember them from peering inside the hooge case :D

Moose - its likely to be a 256k or 512k Trident or Oak technologies 8bit ISA videocard. Suitable for 400x300 in 16 colours. :)

My first proper graphics card (other than a rubbish 1Mb s3 thing) was a 2.25Mb Tseng Labs ET6000 (the 2.25Mb's was just enough to do 1024x768@16bit if I remember corectly), it was a very good 2d card and together with a 4MB 3dfx 3d card it still runs in my old pooter...

    :D

PCI or ISA Diamond Stealth (can't remember) 4mb.
    I've still got a PCI Stealth 2000 2mb in a draw somewhere.
