I'm on Sky for my IP and I can't use a different router other than sky's rubbish one without any kind of usb slot.

I don't have the equipment or funds for a NAS, but I do have another router with a USB slot. Is it feasible to use this router as a switch/attached storage?

Not sure, but you would need to disable the DCHP settings on it ;) plug it in and give it a go.

Can't you just plug it in to a computer on your network and share it?

I believe you can use your own router. You just need to do some handy Google work. ;)

I need to extract the user and password to use with a different router - but I don't want to mess anything up since I don't know much about that.

if the router doesnt work you could always use a raspberry pi (they are the next cheapest option, or a dlink share center)

You could try using the Sky router as a modem for your other router.
