Hopefully just a quickie... does anyone know how to change the green start button to some other (nicer) colour? I've read through lots of guides to change the text etc. (using restorator) but I want rid of that green button before I start using XP proper (it's on dual boot until some new drivers are released).

    Can anyone help?

    Cheers,

I heard that the customizeable BSOD for winXP was a major selling point for it, especially over Linux, which doesn't even have a BSOD, yet alone a customizable one !

I like it a lot too, but I have a few driver problems atm... the 5.1 creative software makes the startup take two minutes post logging in and my flash card reader software stops it shutting down (!!).

Still, won't be long before new drivers are around I'm sure :)

I got XP yesterday and installed it on my home machine...
you can 'sort of' make it look like classic windows...
right click on desktop -> properties
in the first tab, you can change the theme of windows... there's a windows XP setting and a windows classic setting.. the classic one gives you back your grey start button

Re: Re: The green start button...

Yep... I've seen that option before. The thing is that I like the new windows look (well it looks like it was designed for a five year old when you first install it, but you cna soon make it look nice)... it's just that I'd like that new start button to be blue, or yellow or any of colour than sick green :D

    Cheers,

I dont like the new look of XP ;) very thing is to rounded and cute.

The only real reason im using XP is the startbar features that actually make it handy e.g. it puts open programs in order on your start bar.
