Right, I know this sounds both cheeky and overly-optimistic, but I figure it's not outside the realms of possibility. Lots of people bought GTA IV on steam, then got it again in the complete pack special the other week. I don't know if Steam left you with a gift version in this scenario, but if it did, has anyone still got one? I ask because I really, really want to play GTA IV again, but I'm now a complete Steam whore and cannot stomach the idea of installing that game from discs a second time. It was like pulling teeth. I will reciprocate the kindness with cookies*. *Three-dimensional cookies not guaranteed.
Aye, I only ever buy games on disc. I don't remember it being a pain to do though. Mind you it was a while ago. I have been know to blank out bad memories. I like the bare faced cheek though, +rep for that mate.
Hey, people have given away steam gift copies on the forums willy-nilly before, I just thought it'd be worth asking I can't justify buying it on Steam, not now that it's £20, not when everyone else got it for £3 a few days ago Reinstalling from discs is a ballache because of the huge installation size, meaning it takes ages - during which time, due to the continuous HDD activity and CPU usage, you can't do anything else - and because of the GFWL and RSC bloatware, which has to be installed, updated and logged into as well. Although I do seem to recall hearing that they'd removed the Rockstar social club requirement not long ago, so that's something.
I already owned GTA IV and Vice City on Steam before I bought the complete pack a couple of weeks ago and you don't get extra copies for any of the games you already owned unfortunately
