It's common for much of Europe.

Merry Christmas from Vienna, where the ham will be eaten and presents opened tonight :)

Merry Christmas and Thank you for using Christmas and not Xmas, as the holiday does celebrate the birth of Christ!

You do know that the X used in Xmas is the Greek letter Chi and means Christ ? it really doesn't matter and personally I find getting insulted because of it a bit silly XD

Also using happy holidays, as the holi part essentially means holy so no major difference.

    But merry Christmas regardless.

    And glædelig jul

I only said that because here in the U.S. they are trying to remove God from everything and most people say merry Xmas as to make it a non religious holiday. A lot of people here in the U.S. forget why we celebrate it and the spirit of the holiday. So that was the reason for my above post. A lot of people think it's just about giving gifts not celebrating the birth of Christ and helping others out along with celebrating family, and being grateful for what you have.

Actually..... There is no evidence that Jesus was born on December 25. The Bible never claims a date of December 25, but may imply a date closer to September. The fixed date is attributed to Pope Julius the First because in the year 350 CE he declared the twenty-fifth of December the official date of celebration. The date may have initially been chosen to correspond with either the day exactly nine months after Christians believe Jesus to have been conceived, the date of the Roman winter solstice,or one of various ancient winter festivals

Thankfully Christmas in the UK has nothing to do with Jesus or Christianity for most, it is just nice to swap gifts and to see family.

Christianity only moved Christ's birth to coincide with the preexisting winter solstice celebrations.

I agree with you that the bible gives no exact date, it is just a date to celebrate none the less to mark the birth of Christ. I am not trying t make this a religious debate so let's just say Merry Christmas and be done with it, but I do appreciate your explanation.

Thank you and Merry Christmas I hope everyone is having a wonderful day!

    Merry Christmas everyone!

Jesus is still the reason for the season, no matter what technicalities non-Christians come up with or use against it, but just as important for me at this time of year are friends and family, health and happiness. If you're lucky enough to have all those things at Christmas time, you're better off than lots of other people around the world. As an example, one of my customers' neighbours is burying her son in a couple of days time - he died in a house fire on Saturday :(

    Twas the night before christmas
    and all through the house,
    everyone felt shitty,
    even the mouse.

    Mom at the whorehouse,
    dad smoking grass;
    I'd just settle down
for a nice piece of ass.

    Out on the lawn,
    I heard such a clatter.
    I sprung from my chair
to see what was the matter.

    When out on the lawn,
    I saw a big dick.
    I knew in a minute,
    it must be St. Nick.

    He came down the chimney
like a bat out of hell.
    I knew in a moment,
    the ****er had fell.

    He stuffed all our stockings
    with pretzels and beer,
    and a big rubber dick
    for my brother the queer.

    He rose up the chimney
    with a thunderous fart.
    that son of a bitch
    blew my chimney apart.

    He swore and he cursed
    as he rode away,
    piss on you all
and have a hell of a day!

P.S. If you say Jesus backwards it sounds like sausage! Don't do it though, you'll upset him and it's his birthday, you nasty person :nono:
