Valve has fallen to low to the point where it's quite sad that they're still around. I mean compare Valve, the whole company, to a gaming studio like Dice, and you'd realize how truly irrelevant Valve is in PC gaming. still stewing and recycling the same damn graphics engine for what, a decade or now.
What do they do in the company? Itch each-others' backs?

I dunno. Maybe they're working on games that millions of people play? Between DOTA 2, TF2, cs:go, cs there's about 500,000 people playing Valve games right now. Granted popularity doesn't mean quality but... Valve is by no means irrelevant.

Valve? Irrelevant to PC Gaming? I would say Steam is pretty damn relevant! Yeah they may not be making games much anymore, but they're certainly not meaningless in the PC world; they are more popular than ever.

If Steam failed as a business model,

we would now be playing Half Life 3 or even 4

Are you talking about a different valve? Portal 2 was ace!

Yeah the engine is old but it's long been knowledge that they are working on a new updated engine. To be honest every game Valve release is completely polished and pretty much flawless. I'd rather have long dev cycles for a properly finished product than spewing out buggy unfinished toss every five minutes.

Somebody get the gingification gun, we got an interloper from the evil verse!

I can live with Source seesawing past ten next year, for all Crytek and DICE have pushed technology, they package it around the same boring sci-fi or military shooter over and over. I would happily play with Quake Engine 3 forever if it meant a little bit more imagination and joy in my games.

I don't need shiny, shiny graphics. TF2 is still stupid amounts of fun. What, I'm supposed to get excited about Tomb Raider having super-realistic hair modeling?

I'd say some of these studios could take a lesson from Valve - admittedly pulling it out of my ass entirely, I would guess there are more games that use the Source Engine than any other game engine. Seems Valve's doing something right.

And given a choice between Steam and HL3, 4, etc? No question - Steam all day, every day. If not Valve, someone else would have gotten the idea and ****ed it up royally (ahem, EA)

    What a nutter!

Valve are one of the only decent developers left that don't churn out unfinished, buggy, crap!

We may find a new Source engine comes out around the same time the new consoles come out. Making cross platform game realeases on source easy. I would also expect things like Portal 3 / Half-Life 3 to arrive shortly afterwards. It would be silly of Valve to release a new source engine without getting the full potential from the consoles beforehand.

0/10, obvious flamebait is obvious. There's not a single argument or stat that can support anything you've just said.
