Hello (to you e-mail server admins mostly, but everyone in general), I've been using Postini for years now, but the new system that has been implemented (in the guise of Google apps) is not to my taste (I don't want to use GMail and my Exchange server - it's totally daft. Therefore, what alternatives do I have that are any good (and not at enterprise cost)? Particularly, does anyone have any experience with any alternatives in particular? I'm open to suggestion! I only need it for five users, and no, I'm not looking to decommission my Exchange box any time soon - it's useful and I like having control of it. Thanks!
Well there is a few Hosted: Microsoft's Forefront Online Protection for Exchange (This is used for Office 365) http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/e...on-email-security-email-spam-FX103763969.aspx Own Web Now's Exchange Defender http://www.exchangedefender.com/ Or if you want to bring it in house: Sophos Pure Message http://www.sophos.com/en-us/products/puremessage.aspx ESET Mail Security for Microsoft Exchange http://www.eset.com/us/business/products/mail-exchange/ That should give you something to have a look into
Ta - but have you actually used any of the above? I don't just want to sign up to something that might be a load of old rubbish in reality as I can't be bothered keep changing MX/DNS records
every single one of them, my personal e-mail is on office 365 and FOPE is very customizable, Exchange Defender is used by my clients who like it Puremessage was used by another client, and currently rolling out eset as my new manager has decided he doesnt like sophos.
That's what I was after - ta! I might give FOPE a whirl then as starting point - it seems fairly priced/user. Thank you! (+rep)
ESET is good but you need to make sure it's configured correctly else it flags pretty much everything as spam. << ESET fan boy.
I use trend mostly - with their worry free business security advanced you get to use their email security - which I think is really good. Don't know what the cost would be like just to get this service. you do have to change mx records but you don't have to keep changing them, just set and forget.
Ta - will have a nosey I'll have a look here too - ta! I'm not at all worried about changing records once - I just want to settle on a service and set it up so the OH and the others on my server only get one change
If you've got a spare box or VM you can also look at http://www.xeams.com/ It's rather good and gives you control of everything
Quality - when I have a spot more time, I'll give it a go. My VMWare/server refresh has seriously hit the buffers recently for a number of reasons, but the in-house version may be the best bet! Thank you.
