    hey all

I decided i wanted to change from my FT02 to a small case again, i saw the Prodigy and instantly said to myself.. I WANT THAT!

I have called this "Simples" simply because i have decided that i will NOT be modding the case if i can absolutely help it, I may cut some grills out for better airflow but that will be the extent of modding.

I faced a problem though... Its M-ITX! So here is a list of parts i will be using for this build:

    Hardware:
    Intel i7 2600k
    Ballistix 16GB 1600 CL9 Ram
    Asus HD7970 DirectCUII
    Asus P8Z77-I Deluxe Motherboard
    2x Samsung 1TB F3
    1x Adata 120GB SSD S511

Now then.. being me i cant stand noise, thus i will be Water cooling it!
    Cooling:
    EK Supreme HF
    EK DirectCuII 7970 Block
    240 Alphacool 30MM AllCopper Rad
    120 Alphacool 30MM AllCopper Rad
D5 with Restop attachment @ setting 3 (pure silence)
    3/8ID Blue Tube
    Black Metal Tube clamps

    230mm Bitfenix Fan
    3x 120mm Bitfenix Fans

Anyone who is thinking of building Water cooling into this case please take note of the following warning:
The front cant accept a 230mm fan, So you may think it will accept a 200mm rad.. It can but you will loose the ability to keep the power switch and usb pcb on the side panel.
That is why i am using a 120mm in the back and a 240mm in the top.

Oh and also, a 140mm rad would fit fine at the back, i simply couldn't find one that was thin enough.

The case arrived and i started, Pics added

I jumped straight into it and mounted the rads with fans Pulling air from case to outside
    [IMG]

rear fan had to be mounted on the outside, but this is not an issue as you cant see it.

    Better view of the rads
    [IMG]

My Leak test of the new rads, Left to do this for 12 hours
    [IMG]

You can see here the SSD, Unfortunatly i am not happy with how close it sits to the floor
    [IMG]

So i used Mobo Raisers to rise it up!

two big HDD's mounted and now the SSD is hidden
    [IMG]

    Hello SSD!

You will notice i have put the DvD drive cage back in... There is a reason for this as i will say in a mo. Look new mobo!

The cage is put back so that i can fit my Scythe fan controller, I like haveing the option for the fans to be off until absolutely required, this way when im working on some word document my pc is as slient as.. well silence...

This is how bad my desk gets when doing this!

    And there is the Scythe!

PSU fitting time... Now I have a 1KW XFX Pro psu.. Its far to long for this case.

Because this PSU costs around £180 and its the only one i can find that has the ability to turn its PSU fan OFF = Silent i have to find a way:

    just enough room for wires
    [IMG]

me being me, i forgot about photoes from here.. and plumed it all up
    [IMG]

Now that's as far as i have got. You may notice the lack of a very long and tall 7970.. That is because the Dual Link DVI port went faulty and i had to send it back to OCUK for replacement.

The reason i rushed this is because i have important uni work to do, my i7 2600k has an iGPU so i am using that for now.

if you wish to know anything about the case, let me know.

Tasks for when GPU is back:

    Fit Block on GPU
    Plumb it in.
Remove Steel grill from case for 230mm fan and rear 120mm fan. (air flow suffers greatly due to these things)

Sorry if this log is rushed, and not what you would expect from others.

    All the best
    James

IMHO some pix in the thread would be nice :) constant clicking is not a best way to view log IMHO

Your links are broken for a start, the URL has been shortened somewhere in your copy and paste as it shouldn't have the "..." part:

    Code:
    [ url ]http://i69.photobucket.com/albums/i6...pse069c14a.jpg[ /url ]
Then you need to change the tags to instead or [URL] so the images display inline :)

    [CODE][ IMG ]http://server.com/folder/file.jpg[ /IMG ][/CODE]

(spaces in the [ ] brackets don't need to be there, I had to put them in so the forum displays what I want.

    Fixed
    Thanks for the heads up

    Things i am doing now:
Have a Solid Black front on the way from OCUK and a 225mm Fan filter.

I will be Using a 210mm Hole-saw and making a nice hole in the brand new solid front plate :D

then i will do the same for the fan grill on the steel part of the case.

Should make for some epic airflow

I strongly disagree with the 200mm rad note :
    http://rog.asus.com/152712012/news/prodigy-projekt-a-watercooled-overclocked-mini-itx-lan-monster/

But of course this is true only in case you only use SSD which can be put on side panel.

PS: The only reason the side panels are swapped in my case is because the USB3 header cable is not long enough. Still waiting for http://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B005H2CIYW/ to show up in my country, as i refuse to pay 10 euro delivery fees for a 7 euro item .

    Hi

Have seen many people have the pcb issue. Bitfenix also state it on a forum that it conflics.

If it would have fit I would have purchased one.

If you can make it fit then please let me know :)

To poster with that lian li psu thing.. perfect idea I will look for one.

The reason why my 20cm radiator fits could be that the guy who did the loop for me drilled additional holes for the 20cm radiator, i can't think any other reason. But considering your post is in "case mod" category, i highly doubt drilling 4 holes would be too hard for you.

    Ahh yes. I understand haha.

My original aim was to not modify the case to much but that seems to have gone out the window.

That white prodigy looks ace. Love it.

I have actually done a small mod to mine now... cut the steel grill out of the 240mm fan placement. Maximun airflow!

Unfortunately the New 7970 has the exact same problem as the last, would actually say its worse to some extent, But yet again works fine with DP-DVID Adapters.

So i Lubed her up and mounted the Block!
Then Stuck her in the rig
    [IMG]

    Better view?

    Added the tubes
    [IMG]

Wire management is hard in this case, But i will work on it at some point
    [IMG]

Oh and i got a new Front panel for it, I will be modding it with a 200MM hole in the correct place to line up with the inner fan.

    here are the temps:

    i7 2600k @ 4.5Ghz (turbo max that i set) MAX LOAD
    Core1: 64
    Core2: 66
    Core3: 66
    Core4: 63

They idle in the 35-40 range

The GPU at max load in farcry3 is 53C and the CPU ranges around 55c

So not all bad in my eyes, yes the temps are higher than when in the FT02 but i feel the reduction in size was worth it, It looks Cute.
