Well, I searched and didn't find any other threads. So, Who all has been injured whilst modding? Me-Piece of plexi was flung into my eye (going to doctors later.) -Random scratches from runaway dremel. p.s. I was wearing eye protection too(glasses)
I burnt the bugger out of my finger while desoldering a motherboard. I sliced the tip of my thumb off with a foam knife... It could have been my heart, so im glad dad always taught me to cut away.
oops! it wasnt my case i was working on but i was modding. i was using my dremel and was using a bit that is like a drill bit but for carving out bit bits at a time. but it was a thicker one. i cant really describe it. anyways i was using it for carving out some nylon sheet and i was stupid and didnt put the piece in the vice and was holding it with my hand. well i had the thing on full speed and it slipped and ate my finger up. lol it looked quite gross. the skin was shredded up and bloody. ive actually done it a few times now. i had a good streak going with everytime i was using my dremel i would cut myself. lol i also got a bad burn on my arm when cutting aluminum in the band saw and the tiny piece that was cut off went under my arm on the table and burnt it bad. ouch!! still have a scar and that was like two months ago.
Runaway hole saw (the type with two knifes, not a circular saw blade) cut up my leg once. About 3cm long and 1cm deep wound. Other than that, a uncountable number of knife cuts, burns and bruises. It always grow, so no worries The one that hurt the most must be the time i ran the tip of a 5mm flathead screwdriver into my palm. Luckily it stopped when it hit the bone.
invest in a paintball mask or a full-face shield it will pay for itself for avoiding medical bills lol. I hope you're alright man. I've sliced open my fingers a ton of times with exacto blades. Oh and one time I had a sanding disc go under one of my fingernails. I couldn't use it for days EDIT: I did that last week putting in my stereo in my car! That hurt like crazy except it was my pointer finger.
Cut my face open with a breaking Dremel disc... Multiple cuts, bruises, abrasions, and burns... Chemical inhalation sicknesses... Broken fingers/toes... You name it, I've done it!
cody i told you, you should use the paintball mask (i use one when i cut at his house theres about 3 there) I've been pretty luck i wasn't moding but building a model car once. and the exacto knife went in my thumb and pulled the meet and w/e els out, plenty of lil dings and scratches on mettle work, plexi glass in the face is always fun. Dose carpotunnel syndrome count? 500mph's at the doctors right now.
i impaled my arm with a broken pice od dremmel disk. it broke off and flew into my arm lol it was that far in i didnt notice it was still there until i decided to look inside when it stoped bleeding
I wasn't moding but building stoves I've cut my fingers with utility knife quite a few times I've burnt my fingers a few times touching hot stoves A few dremel disk breaks and a few more that I can't remember
Looks like a lot of people need to learn proper tool safety even the emoticon is wearing safety glasses. I've only gotten some scratches and a few burns on a soldering iron (back when I didn't have a proper holder); and before you ask I use/own a large collection of power tools.
Lets add another one to the list. I just cut myself with a 3 volt coin cell battery. Dont ask how, because i dont even know how i did it.
Oh that's just a little tingling sensation; unless you have water on you. I actually test 9V batteries with my tongue
Likewise, you get a fairly accurate reading too The electrocution was more of a burning / muscle spasm thing. Unpleasant but not painful.
No, i just hurt my self easily. I was holding the thing with pliers, and it shot out and sliced my finger. It had slightly raised edges i guess
I was using safety glasses, but it bounced up underneath the edge. Time to start using my paint ball mask!
