i saw some krylon mystique spray paint at a local hobby shop and wondered if anyone out there has actually used it on a case.....i may have to try it out on my next case.......i just don't know how well it'd work on a case.......it seems kinda cool though..... http://www.krylon.com/product/mystique.asp
Not the same product, but very similar: I used Duplicolor Mirage here: http://linear1.org/gm/archives/00000080.php
doesnt that paint cost a lot of money????i saw on MTV cribs that some one had a ferrari or something like that painted in stuff like that. it was "tizight" haha. stuff looks awesome though
Dunno about the krylon. I paid about US$25 for my Mirage kit, bigger Wal-Marts have them for $17. All three parts, base, mid-coat and clear in the package.
hobby lobby had the krylon for $15 i think.............and master p has an impala painted like that.... http://www.thunderracing.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=custcar&rideid=32
One of me mates has his wheel chair like that, And Nissan are starting to give you that paint on micra's as standerd over here in uk
The Krylon Mystique is $29 in Canada at Canadian Tire for the 3 can kit. That's one heck of a shine Linear
the krylon comes in silver/green, blue/purple, and magenta/gold........i'd like to do one in the blue/purple and have everything either black or uv responsive with a black light or two......
I've seen both, the krylon cans are quite a bit smaller than the mirage ones, but the mirage doesnt come in purple/blue. I've never used either but have been awefully tempted. Hey linear, how many kits did it take to do yours? i read your article, but cant remember.
I did it in one kit, it was a midtower supercase. And I did the bezels and drive blanks as well. I ran a little short of the clear coat was my only problem. you could use any clear lacquer though, so says the guy at the auto paint shop. (That's one advantage of buying supplies at a paint shop--free advice.)
QUESTION: If you were spraying that type of paint a la macro black, yould you invert the order of the constituents. Normaly base mid and tp would you paint top mid then base and would it still work?
if it were possible..i would think that the top coat would not be needed....but it's hard to say without trying it.........that would be interesting though
Yep, if I were doing the back of acrylic, I'd skip the clear and do a midcoat and a basecoat on top of it.
OMG THIS IS WHAT IVE BEEN LOOKING FOR can you do blue/silver?? I'm making an acyrlic case themed in blue and silver (the world's two bestest colors!) mmmm so i would just do mid then base coat and it would work out fine? schweet!
haven't seen blue/silver..........you might have to get the blue/silver custom made or something... http://www.matsui-color.com/prod02.htm has a whole bunch of them....but there may be someone that makes blue/silver
