"Players who found all 36 potatoes have been rewarded with a free copy of the entire Valve Pack, which includes all of Valve's previous games and Portal 2."

Valve have done it again !!! What a way to drum up publicity for the imminent release of one of the most anticipated sequels of 2011.

Nice to see that they have given the PC community the ability for a early release date also I feel slightly sadden for the people who purchased the retail copies over the steam digital release. That will teach you for not buying through Steam !!!! XD

This has been a great buildup to the game. I have really enjoyed the cute little things that valve have been doing with varioud other games and websites in the run up to this release. A true company dedicated to PC gaming.
I cant wait to get home from work and decrypt my portal2 preload.

22 potatoes here, if i had known there can be a free game for 36 potatoes, i'd have worked a lot harder to get them! :waah:

and it's a huge shame that the early release means little for UK usual working hour people. :( 5 hours left for me to play the game.........

    Woo, Valve Complete Pack :D

More importantly though: PORTAL 2 :D

EDIT: It appears I could have played portal 2 30 mins or so before actual launch with the golden potato, I valued sleep though...

Erm. Pretty sure it was only released 3-ish hours earlier then was originally planned.

Me too, my son has been playing all morning and texting me updates. I think I'll ground him just for being off school for easter and being able to play Portal 2 while I'm at work. That's parenting for you!

The trailers on steam are epic!! Gotta love valve, but I can't really work out why, they lied to us =(

I'm quite glad I didn't get involved in the ARG.

The general consensus seems to be annoyance that Valve played people to buy the potato sack, spend their time idling / working out the cues with the insinuation it could be released 4 days early (15/04/11 = 19/04/11), then only have it a few hours before, when most people were sleeping or whatever anyway.

The big winners are Valve and the indie devs, the customers just got brought along for the ride tbh.

ahhhh, do I buy this now or wait to receive as a birthday gift in a month's time!? so tempted, as I'm really looking forward to it... perhaps time for a replay of Portal.

I ended up buying this on Amazon as I had a £20 off voucher. Would I have paid an extra £20 to get the game two days earlier?

Hmm, I'm starting the think perhaps.
