    Hi peeps,

    Quick question for you all (and yes I did search, no I couldn't find a sensible answer);

    Currently I have 2x 560Ti 1GB cards in SLI (not the 448 core type) and find that at 2560x1440 I struggle to run some games and get FPS dips to sub 30 rates and quite honestly, I find it annoying!

    Everything I read indicates that the 1GB of GPU memory is what is hampering me from running well at this resolution.
    As such, what single card would make a sensible upgrade path for me? I don't really want to do SLI/Xfire again if I can help it, but am open to the suggestion.

    I was thinking the R9 280x and over clocking it looks like a good option but can't really find anyone comparing 560Ti SLI to the refreshed cards so it'd difficult to ascertain this by myself.
    The budget is ~£250

    Any thoughts most appreciated!

    MSI GTX760 Twin Frozr 4GB model

    I don't like AMD cards and therefore know nothing about them.

    Edit: Had a look at recent reviews of the R9 280X. It sits somewhere between a standard 760 and 770. A 770 is a big jump up in price. I can't see many decent reviews of the 4GB version of the 760 Twin Frozr using big resolutions either.

    This 280x looks good for the price, and looks like it slightly outperforms a 770, so may be a good choice.

    When I upgraded from 560ti to 670 I made the mistake of only getting 2GB vram for 1440p. I would really strongly recommend going for 4GB card.

    280X is in essence a 7979. Same PCB and cooler from some manufacturers.

    And yes 4gb versions for large resolutions.

    OK cool. At least I'm on the right idea with the lots of vRAM.
    Just been having a play with the SLI setup and naturally went for a bit of an OC.. Needless to say the temps are a bit.. hot for my liking at ~90C.

    I think I may need to schedule a case upgrade too as the old P180 doesn't seem to really have the air flow :)

    Yeah - I've got 3Gb on my 7970 and I've decided that amount is a minimum for 1440p/1600p now
