Yeah, but if you look at the Antec sales sheet PDF, their cables look just like standard PSU cables, whereas this one has l33t0r braided / sleeved cables

I've been looking around for modular PSU's lately. I love the looks of the Ultra, I just don't have that kind of $$$ !

    LoneArchon:
Thanks for the pointer on the Antec. They didn't sleeve the cables?!! What the hell were they thinking?! They better change their minds before they go to production.

Since I'm such a cheap *******, I'm trying to work out the best way to convert an regular PSU. I'm putting together something now that I think will work for me. I'll try to get some pics up soon. I'm not one much for polish, but it might give people some ideas they can use.

    [edit:]
Here's a post describing my first attempt at a similar mod.

Well it has a lot of amp's to the 12 volt rail, you could probably use this as a psu for a peltier, so long as not many things are also running on it.

But if you were just going to use it for a peltier power supply, then you would probably just go with a meanwell... Never mind.

I've been looking at the modular PSU's lately as well. The Antec Neopower does look nice.

    Pros:
Antec name....means a lot from past PSUs
120 MM fan...more air less noise
    Good stable lines

    Cons:
    Non-braided cables

And newegg seem to have it for $120 right now. But that's still alot of money to spend on a power supply just so it can be modular. My Enermax is kind of modular since I modded it...maybe I should just try to operate on it a little more and save the 120 bucks.

These really do look pretty cool! I actually saw them a few days before the review and wondered what they were like.

I wonder if they'll be compatible with BTX... is it just a case of producing a different lead or is the technologhy required different?

It was Extreme Prometeia where I saw them but they don't stock them any longer. I mailed and this is the reply I got:

'Hello James that's right until we found out they didn't support Active
    PFC.
We had to pull the entire range unfortunately. Ultra have promised UK
    spec
units in due course but we have yet to see anything. If you find them
anywhere else in the UK be aware that they it is illegal to sell them.'

So basically they can't legally be sold in the UK without PFC... :sigh:
