    Hi all,

I am building a new PC and always follow the recommended builds in CPC. I notice that for the 'mid-price gaming pc' build, the suggested sound card is a Asus Xonar DG (which I already own, its fantastic) and the motherboard is the MSI Z77A-G45.

However this mobo doesnt have a PCI slow so how is it compatible with that sound card? Any advice on a '2nd best' mobo to get with a PCI slot?

    Mobo: http://www.scan.co.uk/products/msi-z77a-g45-intel-z77-s-1155-ddr3-sata-iii-6gb-s-sata-raid-pcie-30-%28x16%29-d-sub-dvi-d-hdmi-atx

    Sound card: http://www.scan.co.uk/products/asus-xonar-dg-51-pci-sound-card-and-headphone-ampifier-oem

    High end mobo: http://www.scan.co.uk/products/asus-maximus-v-gene-intel-z77-s-1155-ddr3-sata-iii-6gb-s-pcie-30-%28x16%29-displayport-hdmi-micro-atx

    Cheers folks, love these forums.

Thanks for the reply. The reason this is a problem is because, like I said, I already own the card and I'm trying to avoid buying new gear to keep the cost down.

I'm surprised it has taken this long for the pci slot to be abandoned tbh.

Fear not! There a thingamies like this http://www.amazon.co.uk/PCI-Express-Adapter-Card/dp/B0024CV3SA

I'm sure there are cheaper variants, but that was the first I found. And I'm a lazy bugger with better things to do than deprive you of the experience of using Google. :p

Yes PCI is on it's way out following floppy and pata. I would agree, upgrade to pci-e version of sound card and sell the pci one on to reduce the financial hit. Otherwise looks like there are some Z77 boards from gigabyte like the D3H that have a pci though I have no idea how 'good' those choices are.
