I have no clue about monitors, but reading reviews on scan and the sticky in this sub-forum I think I want to upgrade my Samsung SyncMaster T200HD to a AOC I2369VM 23" IPS. thoughts? I'm grabbing a GtX770 2Gb and want a 1080 20-23" IPS monitor that is silver (to match my modified 350D - sanding back the aluminium front panel for a silver brushed alu look and respraying the rest white!). Happy to spend up to £150-170 on a monitor, I'm not a hardcore FPS player, I care more about pretty graphics, spent most of GW2 post-release drooling over the graphic artists work... But the £125 monitor is the best One I can find that meets my requirements? I know AOC and ASUS make silver IPS monitors.
I think you should save up and buy a 27" 1440p model. It's something you will just want not long after buying this. Better to wait and get something like that. Just my opinion though.
The reason I'm going for 23" is not because of budget but just personal preference, I'm using a 20.5 inch screen right now and don't want anything bigger than 23 inch. I'm used to sitting closer to the screen and so effectively get the same peripheral view if I bought a 27 inch and moved my chair back a foot or so....
Gotta agree with slizza you should check NRG IT out and get a dell 27" you won't need to move your chair back with the higher resolution
I have one of these and its superb. I think for just over 100 its a great screen. I have a bigger dell at work and don't find coming home to it a problem.
I double checked and currently I'm running 1050p at 20 inches (T200HD). My concern was the increase in screen size and a mild increase in resolution (1080p) would mean I have to move my screen back a lot and don't actually get any extra 'real-estate'. Did some number crunching and here are the results. Item A is minimum distance you should sit before you may start seeing pixels, this was based on the pixel size and the fact that the average human can see detail with an arc angle of 1/60 degrees. I.e. at this distance all the monitors will look identical in picture quality. Item B illustrates the change in 'real-estate' in comparison to a 23 inch 1960x1080p monitor. Note that clearly you won't sit 10 inches away from your 28inch 4K screen. Note that there are marginal differences between 21 - 24 inch screens in real-estate (0.2%) i just rounded them up/down to the nearest percentage. This simply confirms what I've been reading already, never go higher than 24 inch for a 1080p monitor, and also settles my concerns that I may have to move my monitor half an inch back than usual to get the same quality with still almost 10% extra screen real-estate. And clearly a 27 inch 1440p is awesome, thanks again for all your suggestions, but still don't really have a budget just yet for that since I'm already blowing £800 on my pc and not in a position at the moment to blow so much on a 1440p monitor. 20 inch 1040p: A - 17.4 inches B - 92% 21.5/22 inch 1080p (same monitor size, manufacturers tend to round 21.5 to 22 inch, cheeky!) A - 16.7 inches B - 100% 23 inch 1080p A - 17.9 inches B - 100% 24 inch 1080p A - 18.7 inches B - 100% 24 inch 1200p A - 18.2 inches B - 102% 27 inch 1080p A - 21 inches B - 100% 27 inch 1440p A - 15.5 inches B - 124% 28 inch 4K (2160p) A - 10.8 inches B - 159% NB if anyone is interested to see my spreadsheet/notes let me know.
http://www.nrgit.biz/product/23-inch-flat-panel-tft-monitors/dell-u2312hm.html?c=131&p=284, plus you can get a Bit-tech discount, not much better at 23". They can be found in silver too. have a 24 inch 16:10 and a 23 inch 16:9 and I prefer the 24 inch all day , all week. If you want a silver monitor I would seriously go for this: http://www.nrgit.biz/product/24-inc...-dell-ultrasharp-monitor-fr.html?c=130&p=1575
Purchasing from nrgit is not an option as I'm using one of Scans finance offers. OK after looking at reviews for most of the 23inch range scan offers the grand question now is: AOC i2369Vm or ASUS MX239H... mmmm I've read that with Overdrive set to weak ghosting is over compensated and can be an issue with the AOC, and that bleeding has been an issue for people with the ASUS MX239. Clearly the AOC Overdrive can be turned off. Umming and arring but leaning towards the AOC.
Don't skimp now to regret later. Is there a problem with your current monitor? If not then maybe saving up would be the better option.
20 inch 1050p, upgrading to 1080p 23 inch is still a significant improvement for only £125. it's not about skimping: - I just don't want to spend more than almost three times as much on a 27inch 1400p monitor - I have the cash available, however, I'd rather spend it on my new home I just bought - I've budgeted a gaming machine at £1100, that's plenty enough - if I had further expendable cash I have other things I'd rather spend it on: xbox one, shield, nice watch, etc
