OK I've got folding going under VMware, two instances on a Q6600. I know that the VMware window doesn't change, but I can use Internet Explorer to look at the logfile. No problems there. Is there a way of getting some sort of window showing the folding 'live', like the one when folding SMP under Windows?

Yeah FahMon can do it, use this path below and replace the stars with the network name of the VM, you will see what its network name is when it boots up - will be something like "fold-4G63" also you can use the IP address of the VM:

    \\****\C\etc\folding\1\

And yeah click "client is on a virtual machine" although I cant see any differences with it ticked of not!

    :)

Thanks guys, but I know I can (and do) use Fahmon, but that's not what I'm after. I want a window that will show all the messages scrolling past as the folding continues. Is it possible?

You won't be able to get a window from VMware Player that does it... basically you need to enable the FAHlog in fahmon (View > Show/Hide Fahlog in Fahmon).

That's the simplest way of doing it and as far as I know also the only way.

I tried adding the "-verbosity 9" arguement to the config file to get more output, but it was having none of it. Maybe a Linux Guru like JackOfAll could shed some light on how to make the notfred client a bit more verbose, so we can see what's going on?:wallbash:

Apologies to Votick and Coolamasta, if I misunderstood your posts.

Major kudos to Unicorn (I'll look for the icon to click when I've finished this post) - I had thought that the FAHlog window just showed a snapshot, but following your post I see it does update, as I want. :thumb:

http://votick.awardspace.co.uk/ - how do you do that?

Votick - how do you get the webpage to display your stats like that from your sig - it's pretty cool. Is there a separate post or a sticky?

It's pretty easy and is done with fahmon.
If you can get hold of a website. (Can get free ones at http://awardspace.com).
I can guide you through what to do and the ftp line used to do it.

Or if you want I could do it for you and you would just need to set your fahmon up.

    Thanks,

Seriously, I think lots of people would want to be able to show their stats like this, so I suggest you document how to do it and maybe add it to the "how to add your stats to your sig" sticky.

It'd be funny to see what it looked like for the CPChimps :jawdrop:

FTP - not sure our firewall allows it! :wallbash:

    Nice one!

I can see that being as popular on signatures as the OC ones.

Will try to hack my firewall without being spotted by the network nazis once I've seen your guide.

    Yeah, its really handy.
When you haven't got access to your folding machine and need to check clients :)

Hopefully we will get a few members of the team with online stats, would be good to see the PPD pumping out and the hardware its on.

I'm amazed at watching Unicorns rig's going at it. :)
