have been experiencing problems with my gpu msi 460 gtx hawk this means i have to stop folding until i can scrape up enough cash to upgrade but as i am on a low income that may take a few months will be back folding as soon as i can
Sorry to hear about the 460 failing. What do you use your gpu for (other than folding)? I've been looking at getting some more 8800GTX's to make my single GPU into a tri-sli rig - the technology of the 8800GTX is probably 4/5 years old but it's still a beast of a card and will do quite happily (plus it does about 5k PPD at stock). You can probably get a single 8800GTX for maybe £50 on fleabay. Another excellent, more power efficient GPU is the 9800GT - overclockers are selling refurbished ones for £38. I've been considering buying some of those to put in the farm - they do about 4k PPD and are probably equally powerful at gaming, maybe a tad less than the 8800GTX. If you get overclockers to post it to you via snail mail (2nd class - typically arrives next day or two anyway!) for 40 quid you'll be back on the band wagon. HTH Chris
Gents, I've got a number of XFX GTX 260 cards cluttering up my study that I used to Fold on if that's of interest? To fellow Folders falling on hard times, you can have them at a cost that would cover postage ... probably about a tenner .... after all, it is Christmas! (send me a PM)
Your answer is in Doc's post. Make: XFX Spec: GTX 260 (that's a standard part number, so if you need an older, free gpu it will be easy for you to find specs online, probably even on the NVidia site).
A quick check on google gives the NVidia page as the first result. http://www.nvidia.com/object/product_geforce_gtx_260_us.html will tell you all you want to know (just click on "Specifications").
Different cards have different spec's for instance my current GTX260 will be clocked faster than what Doc has as it's a different model. I will wait for the proper specifications from Doc.
I've been swamped by requests (!) .... I've only got so many to go round - so they'll be dished out in thread order when the final PM's are in. As for Australia - won't the GPU fan try to spin in the opposite direction and thus damage the card
Big thanks goes out to the Doc for 2 GTX260's cheers buddy!! When I get back down from the highlands from my Christmas holiday, I'll be bringing the cluster back online, with two GTX260's added to ranks (plus a dual dual-core AMD workstation) I should be adding a good 10K PPD. With a bit of CPU and Shader core OC-ing I should be able to touch 30K PPD - never thought I'd ever hit a number like that!!

Glad you got the cards OK (the others got there's just in time for Christmas too!) - good to know that they are going to be put back into good Folding use
Moved it across from my main rig into the WHS. Folding 24/7 now and can have the fan on 100% as it's in a room filled with the fans of Cisco Switches lol. Was making my top GTX260 a bit too hot as theirs no spacing between them and they pull air in from the bottom hence cutting the top cards supply off :/
