Talk about a completely unnecessary card...at that price.

Needs to be less than £120 for it to make sense.....but then GPU prices stopped making any sense whatsoever years ago.

I dont' really understand the point of either of these cards as they currently stand.

The small price difference to the 270X makes the 270 effectively pointless.

At the price point I would have preffered to have seen the 270 being the 270X as it stands and the 270X being a Thahiti LE based card with a decent clock speed bump.

I bought mine yesterday. I am going to get on to the retailer to see what they can do about this.

Precisely this. The going rate for a second hand 7950 boost at the moment appears to undercut the price of this - for a card that can easily be overclocked past 680/770/7970/R280X levels and is happy to sit there 24/7. Or to put it another way, for the sake of a warranty, you can spend less money for a good 50% more performance.

    Insanity.

I think the Tom's Hardware headline got it spot on:

    'Replacing the Radeon HD 7800s'

These are replacing rather than superseding with better...

Hmmm, are you sure? I thought TrueAudio was only on the R9 290s and the R7 260x?

This is correct: R9 270 series does NOT support TrueAudio.

FYI some retailers in UK, they are giving AMD Never Settle vouchers with R2xx bought from them.
And since yesterday AMD has posted the upcoming Thief in the list of the bundle deal. :D
(yes the ones coming out February)
