Intel licences AMD graphics

http://www.fudzilla.com/news/graphic...g-amd-graphics

yes , ok , its Fudzilla - but , this has been an open secret that Intel wanted out of the `deal` with Nvidia.

This has been known for the better part of a year now, and has already been taken into account in Intel and Nvidia's respective financial reporting.

Likely, this will end up in the same situation as before: patents are licensed, Intel continues developing their own graphics cores as they have for the last few years of licensing with Nvidia. AMD's GPU cores are designed for a completely different fabrication process than Intel's CPU dies, so are not even close to a drop-in replacement.

Yeah this is basic IP stuff, not actual AMD architecture/designs being implemented into Intel CPU's.

Though the idea of a Coffelake hexacore with a few hundred Vega cores is very nice...

AMD said as much at there Vega launch thing, Anandtech has it mensioned in the post. Everyone who left was under the assumption that Intel are not licencing AMD. And the shares dropped 11% on that assumption.

True, but misleading: AMD's shares jumped 12 percent on the rumour that Intel had licensed its technology, then dropped the same amount when it turned out Intel had done no such thing. AMD's share price immediately before the rumour: $11.44; AMD's share price immediately after the rumour was debunked: $11.86.

It's dipped a little since, but it's still at $11.28 as per last trade - that's just 1.4 percent down on pre-rumour trading, not 11 percent.
