Sorry but that question doesn't really add up, it should be very apparent that it isn't a cheap 7700k (it can't compete on clocks and doesn't have the advantage of more cores like other Ryzen offerings), the more apt question would be if it is a better option than the bottom of the Intel Quadcore barrel, the i5-7400.

I think Ant (who wrote the description) was more referring to the fact that on paper the two are similar: 4C/8T CPUs that are unlocked. But the implication of the question is more, as you point out, that they're not. Like, is it really what it might first appear to be?

Why does it say less than 500 in cinebench R15 multithread with an i5 7600k at 5.1ghz ?[IMG]

Because the graphs are broken... the labels and bars doesn't even remotely line up for any of the graphs...

Assuming the red bars are the 1400 results then the 7600k @ 5.1 scored 814 in cb R15

Yeah, those graphs are all sorts of screwed up.

    Theres still something wrong

If 446 is the score for a i5 7600k theres something wrong, i get above 500 with my i5 7400 [IMG]

That's because... The. Graph. Is. Broken.

The 7600k scores 814 at 5.1 and 666 at stock... [the results above and and below the lower red bar which is the result for a stock speed 1400]

After feeding the labels and results into Excel, this is what i got...

The 1400 score 867 at 4GHz and 702 at stock:

Screenshot not working, so a rysen 5 1400 is faster at 3.9ghz than a i5 7600k at 5.1ghz, i guess the i5 is faster for gaming?

If you care about performance, price and power consumption then:
The i5 7600k is the best gaming cpu by a long shot.
The R7 1700 is the best non gaming cpu by a long shot.
(assuming both of them are oc'd).

If you care about performance only:
The i9 7900x is the best cpu by a long shot (for a couple more days).

Wait for the R3 Ryzen then if you can, most of the performance of an R5 1400 but for the price of a locked down i3.

Sorry, misunderstood your comment about not having a money tree as you looking for a budget cpu.
Yeah, definitely wouldn't be worth it.
