Gigabyte one's look the best imo and the rest are pretty nice as well :).

Is that G1 Assassin board for real.

A heatsink in the shape of a gun?

    *pokes Asus* Still waiting :p

Despite looking nicer (finally) - I've had two Gigabyte motherboards die on me in the last 1.5 years and not a single Asus in the last 5 years. I've also had a lot of success with EVGA, so I am keen to see how the Cheesecake edition will perform and stack up against Asus. EVGA does seem to have the plainest design, with the least amount of cooling, which makes me wonder whether they are cutting corners or LGA2011 will simply not require all those chunky coolers, which in some cases just act as fancy decoration.

I'm guessing it is since the last one's had magazines. I't looks gimmicky to me and I prefer the standard heat sinks.

So is LGA2011 triple-channel or dual-channel? And does one give any performance benefit over the other?

Even Intel have a skull on their board!

    Very gamer orientated lineup!

To be fair, my mobo purchasing decisions are now 50% based on the brand and 50% based on the looks.

LGA2011 is Quad channel. The budget motherboards come with 4 available slots while the more performance orientated varients come with 8 slots for a maximum of 64GB of RAM! :jawdrop:

Quad channel afaik. There are some hideous looking boards up there, though I like MSI's Transformer-style heatsink :D

Must admit that I don't really go for how a board looks anymore. I'm more interested in performance and cooling.

I really don't like gimmicky things and I see that in the G1 board

Also I believe that the LGA2011 will be quad channel memory.

Looks a few have already said about the quad channel memory. I have to stop answering the phone when typing posts

    :)

Just noticed on the ASRock board - how can quad channel work with only 6 ram slots?

The X79-UD7 looks ridiculous, 2 x 8-pin power connectors as well as the 24-pin ATX connector? Off the scale! 2 x multi-sas ports too.

From that line-up, the Quantum Force board does it for me - a shame it only has four ram slots rather than eight but in all honesty only four would be used.

Woah! Scratch that, op updated - dayum, that Sabertooth X79 looks good!

Wait what?.. Quad RAM does that actually work?

And what about those heatsinks (north & south bridges)… I mean they look cute and all but will they actually cool the motherboard down and keep up with the performance without frying the board?

Nice bit of bandwidth theft there. :eyebrow: You should really be hosting those yourself and not hot linking to them.

What is with all the fans appearing back on motherboards? I was hoping that was a relic from the past that would not return... :(

I think that UD5 is all kinds of sexy. Shame it, along with an Ivy bridge processor, is going to cost a fortune.
