hi guys a question ...which is the better graphics card...im running a msi 970gtx 4g...would I get any improvement in graphics if I changed to a titan? I'm running a i7 5820 watercooled and overclocked to 4ghz, a msi x99a gaming 7. any help would be good thanks guys
IIRC, the original Titan (if that's the one you're referring to) is around GTX 780 Ti levels of performance, so not very different to your 970 at all really.
yea it was the original titan....wow didn't know they were like a 780...thought they were better than mine,,,,, what would I have to up to to see an improvement in graphics
Small improvement: 1070 Medium-large improvement: 1080t.i Reasonable cost worthy massive improvement: wait a year or two or see what Amd manages to chuck out later in the year.
1070 or above iirc... the 1060 [or amd equivalent] is quicker but [again iirc] not enough of an improvement over a 970 to warrant the swap.
They were basically a 6gb 780 yes. Remember they launched first though (the Titan) so it was a lot more impressive then. As it stands the 970 is pretty even as the guys have said. Ideally you want to step up to a 1070 which is about as quick as a 980ti/Titan X (Maxwell). That would give you a nice boost.
hi guys so would I notice going to a 1060 6gb....or would I need to go to a 1070 to notice anything? thanks guys
A 1060 is an incremental upgrade at best - this might help to visualise the difference. Now, compare that with the 1070.
True, but it is the only realistic option - IMO buying a 1060 is throwing money away. Unless you look at the second hand market - a 980Ti is pretty much the same as a 1070, in the performance stakes and can be had for ~£250 - obviously the newer card is more power efficient, but I doubt that's a concern.
Yea not too worried about power....wud much any more memory help...from 16 to 32...or did that not make any difference
Nah, waste of money. I assume, with that rig, you have an SSD, so the only serious performance boost you'll get is from a new GPU. If you must get one now don't go for less than a 1070/980 Ti, or you could wait for Vega and see what that does to the market - it's only three weeks away.
Upcoming GPU from AMD, unfortunately very little is known about it so far though, but they promised to actually announce it at siggraph (an industry event) at the end of June.
I would look out for a 980Ti, Titan X (Maxwell) or 1070. They're all about the same but the 980Ti should be the cheapest. Would give you around 30% more performance and more VRAM.
Mm ok.....just had email from ebuyer and they got a 28" 4k monitor...would my 970 run it or do I need to change guy first
