I made the short journey into work today, covering a Servicedesk for a well known Law College (soon to be University) providing support for remote workers and general support for students.

I could have worked from home if I wanted but it's much quieter here!

Did any of you make the journey into work today?

Snowed here decided not to go in even though it wasn't impossible

I needed to do some web work and the firewalls at college stop me from accessing the web servers, i had to do it at home anyway...

Was hoping for alot more though, not alot down this part :(

Was day off today so didn't have to go in myself, but it really aggravates me how some people take the piss when there's a little bit of snow about. Where I work some of us have to travel 20-30 minutes (more like 2-3 hours when there's snow), yet some people that I know live literally round the corner call in saying they're snowed in and can't come in. Makes me sick :miffed:

I'm not driving 70 miles in this... Work can **** off. I can pretend to work from here as well as there. In fact it is easier to pretend from here. Win win

It was like a blizzard last night coming back from London. Swindon and Bristol had it quite bad.
Still had idiots overtaking me, then realizing they where going to fast for the conditions before cutting in front of me and braking...Idiots!! :)

Haha, last year something similar happened at work

People literally live 2 minutes around the corner and claim they're snowed in can't get out

When i walked from about 30 minutes away pretty much completely on ice, made it worse is i was on a hill... so i practically slid all the way down this hill hands out trying to keep balance.

The general manager gave them disciplinary though when he found out people had traveled from 10x the distance they would usually drive to get to work.

Same thing happens to me as well. It's brilliant fun to just turn up at their house offering an escort in if they're that snowed under.

Not a single flake up here in sunny Edinburgh. Here I am with sledge at the ready and nothing.

But I am thinking that the city council here is relieved as if more than three or perhaps 4 snow flakes fall in a 24 hour period Edinburgh must be officially closed to all council workers. The rest of,buses included, manage to function but not our local council services.

    Maybe I can sledge tomorrow.

    No snow.

This is going to make my driving lesson very interesting if it keeps up till then.

Assuming I don't get cancelled; I'd love to learn to drive in the snow. It's a front wheel drive Fiesta, anyhow, so it ought not to freak out too much at the wet stuff.

No snow in the Penwith area of Cornwall.
The rain last night caused localized flooding, but nothing deep enough to hinder the motorbike.

It's -20°C over here currently and the landscape is snowcovered since the beginning of December.

So tell me more about these snow-issues please :p
