A friends daughter changed her password on the user login and promptly forgot it and I've been asked if I can reset it, I'm hoping someone here can help please It's a Dell inspiron with win 7 32bit Thanks in advance for any help
We use NT Password Remover in work. It's a bit complex to use though so if you need any help just let me know
Thanks I'll give it a try tomorrow, of course they didn't make recovery disk ffs. I can get in the BIOS and it will boot from USB strangely it wouldn't boot from a Linux live CD
Download hirens boot cd. Make a bootable usb stick with it and use that. I've used it many times for clearing passwords and it's brilliant.
I've done it this way before, it's worked a treat: http://www.howtogeek.com/96630/how-to-reset-your-forgotten-windows-password-the-easy-way/
We use the Microsft toolkit DART. Or ERD for older versions of Windows. As Ms partners we have access to them. I can zip up an ISO for you and transfer to you if you like?
No worries. I'm just trying to figure out how to send 2.6GB! Its alreadsy zipped up. EDIT: Started a trial Of Citrix Share file and it's now uploading. Currently has an hour to go.
Link to download has been emailed. Sure no problem. The x86 version is uploaded and ready so just ping me you email address. I can upload the x64 if needed?
Thanks mate. Although it boots into a windows 8 environment it will work just fine with 7. If not I'm sure I have an older version in one of my drawers EDIT: If I remember right, it's the same as if you were to install Windows 8 but just choose the option to repair my computer and then you should see the DART recovery tools.
Offline Password Reset, will give you access to the admin account which can then reset any local user account. it's only an 18MB bootable ISO. http://pogostick.net/~pnh/ntpasswd/
That looks good Atomic. The DART disk is overkill but atleast Teelzebub will have a decent toolkit to hand.
