Took delivery, today, of an Asus Xonar Essence STX sound card, via Amazon. Had trouble getting it to install and eventually, after the drivers refused to accept it was in the PC, even though Windows had recognised it, I opened the PC up again to try another PCI-E slot.

Once it was out I noticed something was loose inside the rf shield. Closer examination (I unscrewed the shield) revealed that a copper plate that appeared to be the inner end-plate of the rf shield, was loose and likely causing shorting. It was clearly supposed to be soldered in place but, although there was solder in the locating holes none had adhered to the plate, leaving it free to move around.

Amazon have arranged for it to be collected tomorrow and are sending a new one out, for delivery tomorrow, at no cost to me, even though I never paid for next day delivery.
