You'd think a card designed with small, cramped, builds in mind would be designed to exhaust hot air out via the PCI bracket. No?

A possible reason cold be that the vent slots don't allow enough air to effectively escape quick enough.

As the 9xx series cards are so efficient and much cooler I wonder if they will be able to bring out a 980 mini card? Personally I would like to get either this or a 980 mini and then slap on a full cover water block for the extra cooling needed to unlock maximum over clocking potential.

Blower type coolers don't work on short cards because there isn't enough room for the cooling fins. Well, at least there isn't enough room to cool a 150W+ card. You can see this on the reference 970s using the short PCB, they use the same type of blower as the 670 where the fan extends well past the PCB.

    Want it, want it now.

More importantly, when/where/how can we get a full cover block for it?

Yeah that's a pretty short PCB too. I'm looking at this or the Zotac for my new build I think.

Yeah I was looking at those the other day. The short PCB Zotac is already supported too so fingers crossed!

I've been reading bad things about the Gigabyte version, apparently it is extremely loud, even for a mini card. Obviously not an issue if you are going the water route as I mentioned above.
