    Hi all,

I am installing a tablet PC into my takeaway to handle on line orders. When an order is received a sound is played until the order is acknowledged. I was thinking I could put a LED into the headphone jack to flash as well as the shop is noisy s I am a little worried that an order may be missed.

I was going to follow the instructions of this instructable but I am concerned that pluging it into the headphone jack will mute the sound from the tablet.

Is there a better way to achieve what I am after?

Maybe a pass-through to a set of speakers so you get visual LED and the advantage you can turn up the speakers a little higher if needed to combat the noise

There isn't really space for a set of speakers.

A tablet already has a big array of LEDs built right into the screen. Flash that instead.

There is only the power LED that comes on when it first powers up, it's small and I can't see how you would make it flash

How would you make the screen flash on an alert?

Depends... what OS is the tablet running, and what is generating these alerts?

The best way to do it would be to get whoever wrote the Flash app to add the capability.

Another possibility would be to find some audio visualization software and set it to respond to the "stero mix" input.
